  1. Well, I know it's been a while so I thought I'd give an update... Forte turbo cleaner arrived, whacked it in with 20l diesel and ran it through (that's why it's taken a while to report back!) and it seemed to free up the turbo a bit, ie revs didn't drop every time it hit 3k revs. Because of work I'm on a 600mile round trip on motorway/higher speeds so managed to get the revs up and under load and it now seems to be clear (touch wood!). So in conclusion, it seems to have worked!! I was a bit sceptical to start too!
  2. Just ordered some (can only help!) so will feedback when it arrives and fed through!
  3. Well, you may have guessed it, I haven't yet got around to sorting this out! But I had the wifes car in the new garage on the corner so was having a gas with him about it, he said that Forte now do a sticky vane additive to sort out the problem. So in theory no need to dismantle the engine and get all mucky!!! Anyone heard of this, apparently it's pretty new to the market! D
  4. Evening all, sorry to come late to the party but my octy mk1 (54 plate) 110bhp diesel is playing up with what I reckon is the sticking vanes. Can I do the mr muscle "cure" taking on board the above pointers? Anyone near Bristol/bath want to earn some beer tokens Ta, Dave
  5. I did get a reply off the tech team... comprised of " try disconnecting the adapter and reconnecting it a few times, usually works for me" So I messed around with the power connectors, purple cable and a few other things but couldn't get anything to work. So all in I've just left it and chalked it up to experience, with much agro from the wife!!! Sorry can't be of more help but if you get it sorted let me know how! Thanks, dave
  6. Glad it's not just mine If I get a chance I'll have a look at the weekend! Cheers, Dave
  7. I know when it's normally operating there is a clicking noise coming from it, I think I've found other posts where people have said the flaps constantly move, etc. When I get a bit of time I might strip as much as I can and see what it is. Thanks for the pointers, dave
  8. Evening all, I've got a little annoyance from the heater blower (I think). Basically you hear an odd intermitent buzzing noise coming from the passenger footwell when the heater/blower is on (goes away when it's off). I don't know if this is linked but when the fans are on (I tend to have them on Auto) the fan power seems to fluctuate, the sound from the blowers seems to fluctuate at least. Anyone got any ideas what it could be? Usual problem of...? New blower motor/dodgy connection? Cheers, Dave
  9. Just out of interest what torque setting are the bolts for the bumper bar?
  10. And don't forget the unions!!! If a job needs doing urgently it gets done, the amount of times I hear "emergency resurfacing works due to a vehicle fire" or whatever. Now potholes are a different thing!!
  11. I'm prepared to be flamed on this but does anybody on this thread have a private pension? If so, when you retire, you'll possibly be profiting from this glitch in the share prices as you may have a (small) part of the portfolio of investments in the Far Eastern sector. What I'm trying to say is that somewhere along the line we are all paying or reaping the benefits of the current crisis... eg. there was a report on the radio this afternoon saying that the price of oil will go down but gas up, who with their vRS's will be praising that reduction in outgoings??? Believe me when I say this that I think that the devastation and loss of life in Japan over the weekend was completely catastrophic and hope that those that can (red cross, MSF, etc) can physically help out as much as possible and we in the west can provide the means to get those teams there and fund them whilst they are there. My thoughts and prayers are with the people effected by this event!!!
  12. Take on board the comments but there is another way to look at this. The Japanese economy needs a massive amount of short term investment to get it back up and running (3 trillion Yen being pumped back in yesterday!) so these short term investors are assisting the Bank of Japan by putting cash into the country when it is needed. The investors are willing to take the risk that they may lose their money so they will be rewarded if/when the economy picks back up and the share price increases! There's always 2 sides and people are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Has everyone on this thread given £5 or whatever to the Red Cross or A N Other Japan charity???
