  1. So after a long time since my last post I"m afraid to say there's need to resurrect this again! The missfire I mentioned in march 2013 stopped happening. Unfortunately I now have a missfire as bad as the first issue on cylinder 3 (the only one that hasn't registered a missfire before. Swapped coil packs and sparks but the code stayed on cylinder 3. I think I'll be booking it back in to have the compression checked and further investigations in coming weeks........will update this post just in case it's helpful for anyone with a similar issue.
  2. Is it not worth just doing the manual pairing process? There's a guide out there somewhere but from memory it was something like put paired working key in the ignition and turn ignition on. Then new key in drivers door. Turn key to lock the door then press unlock button, same again but in reverse. It's something like that. Did all my keys like that in 5 mins with no hassle!
  3. Isn't the power feed for the cd player a live with ignition on?
  4. Do the controls on the door (lock unlock) all function as they should? Is all door locks function properly? If so then it's likley to be the locking control unit that's just next to the steering column (that would be my guess) http://goo.gl/0U9q52 think it's fairly cheap from a scrappy but you'll need to sync you keys up etc.
  5. As far as I know all fabia have fixing points hidden under the black plastic trim on the gullys to the sides of the roof. They are hidden under small trim clips 2 on each side front and back. I've got thule bars plus cycles carries and couldn't be happier! The fabia shares the same fitment ad the mk1 octavia so worth keeping an eye out for that as they are often easier to come by used from octavias (got mine for £20!) 6. I had a cylinder head misfire on the same engine but unfortunately my was solved by one of the things you've already had done/checked. Hope you find a solution but can't think of anything else that could explain it! Given what you've already spent there are a good few low milage replacement engine going (at least there were the last time I checked). Shouldn't be too big a job given how dinky and simple the engine is!
  7. I had the same problem just over a year ago. The fans didn't run and the aircon didn't work. Had a full zircon service and regas and the said there's a fail safe that prevents the aircon from running without the fans as too much pressure builds up in the system (at least that was the blab they gave me.). After a little inspection and testing the fans manually i discovered the fan controller which is mounted on the bottom right of the engine bay wasn't working so had that replaced and all is fine! (apart from my leaky condenser but that's another story)
  8. I personally use Thule rack and a carriers. The bars are aeros although the newer wing bars are lovely then then carriers are the 591's which in my opinion are one of the best designed units out there! Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk
  9. As a former cycle mechanic go for roof bars and cycle carries. A million times easier, secure'er and never seen on damage a car. Rear mounted carriers on the other hand regularly damaged cars, even the more expensive versions. I've seen everything from striped paint, dented boots through to cracked rear windows and remover bumpers. Seriously worth the extra cost in the long run! Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk
  10. Fairly sure because the discolouration is under the glass the only option would be to replace or remove and refit. Yet to come across a fabia in person that doesn't have the same issue! Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk
  11. This project thread is bonkers in the good way! Love all the mods! Can't say I'd have them all personally but I'm now full of ideas for what to do next! Thanks korban
  12. Can anyone confirm is it possible to fit (awkwardly) without removing the seats? Just fitted new seats this afternoon but the passenger seat just has the cd multi space. Unfortunately when fitting it one bolt as good as stripped of final tightening. It's as tight as it needs to be and wouldn't mind avoiding removing it if possible!
  13. I worked in a bike shop for a number of years so have a little experience with the various carrier options out there. From experience the boot mounted options range from good to awful but with all of them there is the risk of a bump at the wrong angle or a missed clip etc which can be catastrophic in terms of paintwork and dents. Don't get me wrong, it's not an inevitability but a significant risk. I've always found the roof mounted options to be best. Yes a little expensive but it's so worth it in the long run. Plus if you ever change cars it's just a case of new bars (or even just a new foot kit if you go for thule). My thule bars and carrier and hands down the best purchase I've made in years.
  14. My 3 cylinders not that high (50k+ and rising) but it's going great, only failed one mot in it's whole life (suspension).
  15. Take it you don't have the wheels just tyres? Also any pics of the interior? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
