  1. Most car dealers/salesman across the UK know next to nothing about the product they're selling...... 9 out 10 times I've stepped foot in a dealership, I know more about the car I was interested in, than the person selling it to me; that includes which options you can actually spec with others, and which you can't.
  2. Hi @Aarond Thanks for the information - as you can probably tell, it's been several years since I ordered a new car, so had no idea there was this chip issue! That explains it then. All good, I can wait - I'm not desperate for the car, it's more of want one now I've seen it. I want the 4x4, cos with all-seasons on it becomes a go anywhere vehicle, like my XC60 currently is. Thanks again. H
  3. Hello everyone, it's been a while since I posted on here (many years in fact!) as I sold my vRS to another member here and have owned a Volvo XC60 since. However, I may be coming back to Skoda as I really love the new vRS estate. I've enquired with a local dealer about quoting me for a 4x4 version and have been told that they aren't available to order until 27th October 2021 with delivery in Q1 2022! The Skoda UK website doesn't say anything about this, and nor do any of the online brokers that I've also specced the car up with? I've assumed the dealer knows what they're talking about, but I find it surprising that it isn't mentioned anywhere, so thought I'd ask here......lol Hope everyone is well and if Tim still has my old vRS - how's it doing? Cheers, H
  4. Tim, Try wedging some cardboard (or something similar) into the gap between the door seal and the plastic panel on the left-side of the glovebox - enough to physically move the plastic panel by a few mm. I did this on a previous BMW 3-series and it worked a treat. Clearly, it then had a piece of cardboard in that bit of the car, but you couldn't see it unless the passenger door was fully open - however, I eventually replaced it by using UHMW tape down the length of the plastic panel = squeak gone. Cheers James
  5. Haha, I found one of these a few years ago in my Octavia - the current owner (Timmyboy) may well have found it in the Jumbo Box, cos I think I left it in there - I had no idea what it was either until I read the above thread, but assumed it wasn't crucial as nothing had gone wrong with the car. Cheers Nick.
  6. Hi Tim, Long time no speak (as I couldn't log in under the new system - user error, of course). I've had this on previous cars as well, and found that it was where the left-hand side of the glove box rubs against the rubber door seal of the front passenger door - if you try wedging something in there (like a piece of folded card, or similar?) and taking the car out for a spin and it stops, then just apply some UHMW tape down the side of the glove box and it won't ever squeak again............ Cheers, James
  7. I had to do this once I realised it was possible.............(i.e. I hadn't passed the mileage yet, so could reset the T1):
  8. Great stuff, good to hear. I think we agreed it could be a faulty valve issue at the time, so pleased it's sorted now anyway. The XC60 is absolutely awesome. The sound system is unreal, it's the best I have ever heard in a car (albeit I haven't heard the B&O system in the Audi, or the Mark Levinson system in Lexus, etc.).
  9. How's she running Tim? Hopefully as smooth as ever..........
  10. Hi Tim, Has this solved the noise we both heard on the test drive that I had just been putting up with (and the dealers couldn't find either) for the last year or so?! Cheers, James
  11. Hi Tim, Absolutely no idea mate. I don't think I ever had anything done to the doors during the 5 years of ownership? (maybe check all my receipts to see if there's anything noted on them??) I certainly didn't touch it myself either. Sorry I can't be of more assistance! Cheers, James
  12. Yeah, the D4 is a bit sluggish - hence why I had the Polestar map put on mine - totally transforms the car, including the throttle response (this and the gearbox shifts are tuned with the map). It's like a D5, but even better.
  13. What year was the XC60? I have a 64-plate Auto XC60 and, whilst I prefer the DSG, it's absolutely fine for daily driving - it reacts well from standing start (better than the DSG in fact) and is generally very smooth. To be honest, they tend to get neglected in Volvo's and don't have the oil changed (it's not scheduled like the DSG), and my understanding is it makes a huge difference to the smoothness if the oil is changed regularly.
