  1. I've got a leaking condensor on the Octavia 2006, BXE engine. Can get a replacement unit for about £150, but just wondered are there any pitfalls in fitting? In particular, do I need to stock up on any seals or O-rings or bolts etc.for reassembly. As always any help appreciated, cheers.
  2. Think it is the vRS that changes peoples' behaviour - I now have the exact same year Octy 2 but the 105 diesel and it's like being invisible in comparison to the vRS. Only real difference to the debadged rear though is lack of spoiler.
  3. Had a look behind the switch, turns out manual air con has cable controlled flaps, and when installing my Parrot handsfree kit, I had inadvertently disconnected the cable from the switch. reconnected it and now all is well.
  4. I seemed to be a target for this kind of thing in my red Mk2 vRS. Could be very tiring when just trying to get to and from work. Debadging it made no difference. One of the reasons I decided to get rid of it, despite it being a fantastic car.
  5. Just been out to have another look at this - seems that whatever position the right hand dial (windscreen/face/feet) is in, the output is: Nothing from centre vents. Hardly anything from windscreen vent. Side vents and feet vents blowing hard. Is there a motor that controls the diversion of air that needs replacing? Is it a diffucult job?
  6. Maybe don't mention the mpg in the ad? Although it's good for a 2.0 petrol it will not sell the car. I had trouble selling my 2.0 TFSI a few years ago and same last year with my 2.0 petrol mondeo. There's a really limited market for 2 litre petrol cars these days. Also January not the best month for selling a car as many people skint after Christmas.
  7. Will be belting round a track somewhere with race seats and a roll cage in it!
  8. I have an Octavia Ambiente with manual air con (not climatronic). Two problems with it in this cold/damp weather: 1) the windscreen mists up very badly and very quickly when the car is parked, and the windscreen demister vent does not really have any impact, as very little air comes out even when directed full blast at the windscreen 2) Under no circumstances will any air whatsoever come out of the two facing vents in the centre of the dash (above the radio) I have read on here that the demister is poor by design, but there really is very little air hitting the screen. I wonder if something has packed up within the dash which prevents air coming form the centre vents, and is this a known issue or is there an easy way to check it's all working in there? Would a fault code read reveal anything given that it is not climatronic? Cheers
  9. Parrot CK3100 in my last 4 cars - well worth it. Fitted 3 of them myself. (Golf, Mondeo, Octavia II). Octy was the most difficult, not in terms of wiring but there is very little spare space behind the dash in these cars. I would recommend over any other solution.
  10. Ours started something like this, and I feared the compressor had gone, but a regas seems to have brought it back to life.
  11. I have a mk3 Golf 2.0 8v which I'll start using as a dedicated track car next year, once it has some new tyres! Not the quickest thing but a good base to learn track driving and have some fun above all. Is stripped out interior, and will travel to track on a trailer. Can't wait! Car cost me £300, spare engine in the garage for when something gives. Bought it to use in production car trials and did but that scene wasn't for me as it turned out. Did have it taxed and insured for use in trials but it is a huge recurring cost when it's only being used occasionally.
  12. Could you maybe try and get an extended test drive from a dealer? PS If I had a Superb I would help, I went to uni in aber and will take any excuse to go back for a day! Good luck.
  13. I cut three 5mm x 25mm slits with the stanley knife.
  14. Thanks - holes made, seal was full of water. Will check boot water level again during the next downpour. Shouldn't have to wait long!
