  1. Interesting, I've priced a couple up with carwow and the best price I can get, with about £3.5k RRP of options, is just over £28k saving about £3k off list. It strikes me as expensive. I'll take another at the figures factoring in loyalty bonus, deposit contribution and fuel and see how that stacks up. Cheers
  2. Mind me asking what sort of deals you got on these new? Think this would be a good choice for me but list price is too steep! Thanks
  3. It has had replacement console bushes in it's lifetime but probably about 50k ago. A Skoda dealer picked this up at the time so would have thought the VAG specialist would have been able to spot this. I'm in Huddersfield but I work in Leeds, so any recommendations for a specialist in the area would be great. Thanks, Dan
  4. Thanks for all the replies. Had the car up on the jack tonight to check for any play or movement when rocking the wheel horizontally or vertically, this seems to be the technique for checking track rod ends according to YouTube! There was no movement at the front with a tiny bit of movement at both rear corners but the whole suspension arm moved so I don't think it's anything to worry about. One of my bump stops has disintegrated and the other is on it's way out but that's a separate issue. When I first went to the VAG independent I did ask them to check all the bushes and they were all reported to be fine. Reading other threads it sounds like they can appear fine on first inspection but replacing them makes a big difference. Ideally I'd like to take it to a garage who knows or has an educated guess as to what needs replacing and get it done. Replacing all the parts meaty101 has suggested sounds expensive with several trips to the garage required :( Do you have any idea of what the costs would be for each part fitted? Replacing the wishbones sounds interesting, I assume I'd need to be doing this on all four corners? Is replacing the whole part cheaper (including labour) than replacing bushes/ball joints? Roughly how much would I be looking at fully fitted? Thanks, Dan
  5. Hi all, I've recently had a fair bit of work done on my 2009 Limited Edition estate which is now on 103k miles after debating whether to sell or keep for another year or so. The main issue I had and unfortunately am still having is vague feeling to the suspension/steering. This all seemed to be triggered earlier in the year after some heavy snowfall and having a bit of trouble getting the car up and over my hill involving a good workout (back and forth) of the steering system as it struggled for traction and trying to avoid sliding down the hill. I've taken the car to a VAG specialist in Leeds and initially they said all was well after an inspection but they agreed there was an issue after a test drive. They recommended replacement of the front shock absorbers due to the mileage on the car. There were problems with seized top mounts and so these were replaced but one of the new ones failed during fitting, this was then replaced with another. Full four wheel alignment was done at this time also but I was surprised to have the car returned with an off centre steering wheel, took it back in and they said they could only correct it by swapping the front alloys over which seemed odd to me but apparently is normal. Things have felt different since this work was done but it is still not right and seems to be getting worse. Very difficult to describe how it feels wrong but with a centred steering wheel on the motorway I get an unusual small side to side movement of the car which makes it feel twitchy and unsteady. I've also noticed that the steering doesn't always feel right either. The car is due new tyres all round in the next month or so, I'll be getting that sorted soon which may help but can't see it solving things. The other idea I had was to replace the rear shocks also for good measure. Appreciate that this is probably a nightmare to diagnose remotely but if anyone has experienced anything similar with their car I'd be interested to hear about the solutions please. I'd like to get this sorted to restore some confidence in the car, would like to avoid just going through the possible culprits and replacing parts if possible due to limited funds. Cheers, Dan
  6. The garage have diagnosed a leak in the condenser today for me, £490 for a new one fully fitted including regassing. This is a bit too rich for my liking at the minute, any suggestions for a cheaper fix welcome!
  7. That's typical, I've been watching ebay for days and then 3 salvage ones come up when I post. I've gone for one of those which I can refurb and get swapped over. Thanks anyway!
  8. I've noticed my handling get worse in recent weeks, it feels very vague now and there is some play in the steering wheel. It certainly does not inspire the confidence in cornering it once used to. I'm suspecting bushes as well but not unreasonable to replace them at nearly 6 years old. Having said that, it did have a new set of console bushes at about 20,000 miles and just over a year old when I first got it, now at 97,000. Will book it in to get checked out. Dan
  9. Hi all, I need to replace one of my Neptune alloys which has a buckle - I really have had poor luck with alloys and this car and I'm a little fed up! Cheapest price for the silver Neptune I have so far is £259.20 from my local dealer. I see Horton Skoda have the black version of this alloy for £178.02 delivered but they don't list silver - waiting for a call back for a price. The classifieds here and ebay seem to be no use with none available. Does anyone have any other ideas for where to buy for less? Happy for european suggestions if you've bought from them before. Thanks, Dan
  10. I have the same issue on mine. I was without it all last year after having it regassed the previous summer but didn't have the cash to fix. Got it checked out in January this year and it passed the pressure test so they regassed with dye. As of a month ago I get no cold air again so there would seem to be a leak somewhere. I'm booking in again in the next week or so to investigate this again and so other items. Dan
  11. On the off chance that the deal falls through, let me know please! Dan
  12. Hi, What's your reason for sale? Are any of these buckled? Whereabouts are you in South Birmingham and when is the best day/time to collect? My cousin is in Alvechurch and can potentially pick up on my behalf. Cheers, Dan
  13. I might be interested in these but I wouldn't want the tyres really and would like to see photos. I'm in Huddersfield so not far away from your planned trip. What price could you do them at without the tyres please? Thanks, Dan
  14. I have just had this warning flash up on my 2009 CR170 too. I have noticed over the last few days that on a cold start there is a marked lack of power even on full throttle, almost like the turbo is not spinning up, but then it can go back to normal after lifting off the throttle. Tonight I started it after leaving to stand for about 30 minutes with the engine up to temperature, gave it some throttle and noticed the problem and then the engine fault message came up with the glow plug light flashing. Pulled over and restarted the engine, all was fine with no throttle issue and full power available. Did you get anywhere in solving your problem 2Kittys? Did a throttle body clean work? Thanks, Dan
