  1. Hi mate thanks for the reply, is the actuator that thing on the right with the VW logo on it? Obviously I have no idea what I'm doing lol
  2. Hi all, I have a 2001 Octavia Elegance 1.9tdi hatchback and recently I can't get into the boot, I have read that a few people on here have had problems however mine seems to be a little different as I cannot hear any noise coming from the motor when either pressing the lock/unlock buttons on the remote or when I turn the key in the boot itself. I have managed to get the boot lid open by climbing into the boot and flicking the catch behind the plastic trim and took a photo of the lock which I have attached, what I am wondering is whether anyone has any idea of which part maybe faulty or whether its best just to change the whole lot? Any help would be appreciated, thank you. dc
  3. Going to try the old Jump lead trick and if that works then a new battery...I'll let you know what the outcome is. Thanks everyone.
  4. Thanks for the replies guys, I'm tempted to just try a new battery then rather then take it to have a new sensor fitted only to still have the same problem. It does sound strange though that when cold it starts fine as you'd think a faulty battery would be worse in the morning due to having to power the glow plugs etc.
  5. Hi, I have a 2001 Octavia TDi Elegance which is struggling to start when its gets warm. During the cold weather (below zero) its starts fine in the mornings however when I drive to work which is about 15 miles if I stop at a shop or whatever before work the car will struggle to start. It will start but it has to turn over a lot more than first thing in the morning, I want to get this sorted as I don't want to kill the starter motor. I have recently had it serviced but it has not fixed this problem, the guy seemed to think it maybe a temperature sensor or air getting in somewhere. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
  6. Cheers again guys, I have managed to get it to sound ok now and have ordered the inline aerial power injector so we'll see how that goes. Does anyone know the speaker sizes in the front and rear? I think I may end up changing them...also any recommendations? In my last car I had JBL which were quite good. DC

    Hi

Hi all I'm Dale I have a Skoda Octavia 1.9TDi, it's my first Skoda but I love it:-) DC
  8. Cheers for the replies guys, Since I typed my post I have since tried using some 320K MP3's on a flash drive and had a play with the EQ and I have got it to sound ok now, your probably right about the tweeters though as it does did sound very 'top endy'. I've done bits of sound work in the past in radio studios etc and have a very fine ear which is why I noticed the difference so much straight away. The other thing that is a problem is audio over bluetooth on an iPhone4 is just horrible so that feature is useless straight away so it'll be the Aux In for Spotify. mblames, you mention a power injector for the aerial amp, does this mean that the stock head units provide a power feed straight down antenna cable or is there a separate power cable on the wiring loom that is not connected to the new head unit? Thanks guys, quality forum I love my Skoda apart from the limp home issue which I don't know how to solve yet but apart from that!
  9. Hi all, I have just fitted a new stereo to my 2001 skoda elegance 1.9tdi to replace the standard symphony stereo that was in it before. I ordered a Sony XAV-62BT but received a JVC KW-AVX740 (no stock on the sony apparently) so I said I'd try the JVC anyway and see how it goes.... The stereo itself doesn't seem to bad however the first thing I have noticed is the sound quality doesn't seem as good as the standard stereo which I find a little disappointing when you have paid £300+ for a head unit. The other thing is the FM Radio reception is not very good even though the standard one was fine. Are these common issues or do you guys think the Sony would be a better option? Are the speakers in these cars designed only to work well with the factory head units or...? I don't really want to take the option of replacing all the speakers too. Any advice would be well appreciated guys. Dale.
