  1. I'd like to now what's inside the Dukes engine that enabled it to top 220mph with Dovi on it at Qatar? Roll on Mugello which should see some silly top speeds.
  2. The engine has been repositioned to give better balance and stop the front end washing out. Sounds an easy fix but it's not.
  3. Today the Nokian WRD3's were used in anger up at Llyn Brenig North Wales. I took the video while conditions were still good. It got quite scary later mainly due to the sheet ice on hills that even good winter tyres don't like. Excuse my rubbish video.
  4. Had a similar thing happen on a VW Beetle last month and I thought it was the master cylinder failing but it turned out it was some metal part breaking near the clutch pedal which was as simple and cheap fix but unusual thing to fail. I can't be more specific than that i'm afraid as the garage fixed it.
  5. I've used strada, corsa and corsa+ in my Tarox B32 calipers. The strada worked perfectly fine on the road and were ok for light track action. The corsa+ were incredible once warmed up but still useable on the road. The corsa falls in between.
  6. Yes did a fault check but nothing showing apart from my usual faults like air bags ect. The funny thing with my PD engine it always started instantly even in very cold weather and having been left to stand for weeks. It just puffed out a cloud of smoke and ran lumpy until it warmed up properly.
  7. No didn't check them but after nearly 12 years i think they were well past it. It's recommended to change them at 60 k miles and i'm on 138k.
  8. Had glow plug changed today and all four came out easily after almost 12 years use! I can now confirm that starting from stone cold no blue ish smoke or any coloured smoke comes out at all! Engine is smooth on start up with no lumpy idle ! In fact it's so smooth I had to check the Rev counter to see if engine was running! The garage didsay it's common to throw out blue Ish smoke with knackered glow plugs on cold start ups? This is good news as it s cheap fix unlike new valve seals . Plus I'd be disappointed if if needed new valve seals with my mileage and careful service schedules.
  9. Ok . Today the glow plugs will be changed by my garage as I've heard there can be problems with seized plugs causing all sorts of issues. As they've been sat in the cylinder head for nearly 12 years without being touched i can see problems? I'll report back with the results! Thanks for all your replies !
  10. Just had a *******ing for not opening my advent calender! Does anyone actually bother with this stuff?

  11. The intercooler is pretty clean as I did the elephant mod some time ago and there's very little oil left in the pipe work. I use 1 litre of oil every 8k mile btw. Seems odd I get the big puff of smoke within 5 mins of the first cold start ? This can't be oil draining past valve seals that quick? When I get the chance to have new glow plugs fitted i'll report back. How easy is it to change glow plugs on the ASZ pd 130 ? Cheers!
  12. I'm no expert on these matters but my local garage reckons the glow plugs heat the combustion chamber on cold starts to allow complete combustion of the fuel on start up. If the glow plugs are not working correctly this doesn't happen and a big puff of smoke comes out and they also say unburnt fuel can look blue ish. My lumpy cold start is due to incomplete combustion for a few seconds. This morning I start up with the usual puff of smoke then 5 minutes later I start it again to be greeted by yet another puff of smoke. Surely this can't be oil passing the valve seals in such a short time? But according to my garage it's unburnt fuel? As soon as I get the chance to change the glow plugs i'll know if that's the issue.
  13. Thanks for the answers chaps! I thought worn valve seals could be a possible culprit but I popped in to a local garage and they recommend changing the glow plugs first as they believe the unburnt diesel left in the cylinders caused by faulty glow plugs will give a big puff of blue ish smoke. It's also rough on start up when it's cold which indicates worn glow plugs. It would be nice if it's just case of new glow plugs and not valve seals lol! @Stevobevo you say it's a simple job to change the valve seals ? How much time/ labour would a garage charge for this service?
