  1. There was a time when briskoda gave every serious post a dignified answer? Perhaps you Octy 3 owners are bringing in an unruly element. but hey I see why twasme , you've missed out the letter "t" from the fourth letter of your pen name!
  2. Sorry Paul I'll say it simply - should he have gone for a bigger engine with at least 140 bhp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I was asking for some one to confirm this as I know nothing about current Octavia driving.
  3. My first thread on here since I left and went to F30post. So some comment if you will from the experts. My friend Dave annnounced that he was disposing of his 1.9tdi mk 1 and getting a new mk 3. Great news I said. He went on to say that he was getting a 1.2tsi cos' the salesman said it had plenty of go and he didn't drive very fast anyway. I wondered at that - once in the 1.9tdi he came out of a sideroad ever so slowly and found on the main Newcastle Carlisle road, a Ferrari crossing his bows at a tremendous rate with me a watching front seat passenger! My view is if you drive ever so slowly you may very well need a bit of special oomph for special occasions. Now I'm not suggesting he should trade in( like me) for a BMW 335D with 309 bhp but my old Octavia mk2 with the 1.8 TSI engine had 160 bhp and went like a bird 0-62 in 7.8 secs. So my question is should he have thought more about his driving style or is he in the right car (note it has 105 bhp for a 15 ft. 5 inch saloon)? PS If you want a BMW go for the 330D or the 335d av mpg 43.6 mph or better and 0-62 in 4.8 or 5.3 secs.
  4. My Octavia 1.8tsi went into the great part xchange market in the sky last Saturday. I am now driving a BMW 335D m sport xdrive. As you might gather this is a terrific car, great seats, sensational performance from its 313 BHP engine. but you know what! the outgoing 1.8 tsi does not pale beside it, particularly in the driving stakes with its DSG gearbox. So all I can say is that the 1.8 TSI is a great car with a stellar engine. I do hope it finds a good home with someone who appreciates it!
  5. Mike Thanks for that but the deals done. Got a decentish part ex and 17.3 per cent off the 335d. also PCP at 3.9 per cent so I'm not at all unhappy! This is my swansong car in the twilight of my motoring! sorry to leave the forum because there's some intelligent info on all sorts of subjects here - not just Skoda related. TT
  6. My L&K (1.8 tsi) was one of the last MK2 L&Ks delivered August 2012. Most of the spec has been covered but just to be sure. I have front (as well as rear parking sensors) BUT this was the only option which I paid for apart from spare wheel. All the following were included in the spec eg. Rear parking sensors with screen display 4 spoke MF steering wheel Xenons which include corner adapting beams AFS adapive front light system Electrical seats with memory for seat (3 memories)and mirrors. 17" alloys 225/45 R17s Heated door mirrors which are foldable Heated front seats Hill hold Leather seats (grey) with L&K motif MDS Nets in boot Retractable rear sunscreen Textile mats L&K kickplates Piano black varnish decor Silver metallic paint Hope this helps. Incidentally my Octavia is being traded in 2 weeks from now for a new BMW335D XDRIVE so if anyone fancied it, it will reside at Coopers BMW Durham until they put it in on a lorry for disposal through auction or otherwise. If anyones interested I'll put it in a new thread for when its available for enquiry there or give you message privately. You could ask Coopers what they're gonna do with it (and how much of course!!!). PS Its got DSG gearbox and done circa 21,000 miles when I take it in. roughly 15 months of warrantly left.
  7. If you ever want to pusue this deal Amanda - strongly suggest you access BMW's F30post and look for UK forum. Lots of advice and experience from people getting up to £10k off with main dealers. I got £7.5k off a rather underspecced 335D. There is a dealer on there (TRL) who is also a member who is quite willing to put himself out to get a deal in any part of UK on request for Forum members. PS Alan was a one off - always singing in class - never really took to schoolwork I think! A rather odd fact is that when Alan and I were in the 1st form our dinner monitor was one Bruce Cripps who remorphed as Bruce Welch and became one of the Shadows. Frankly I much preferred Alan musically to Bruce whose public presence is quite at odds with the conceited, unkind **** we saw at dinner times.
  8. Amanda Saw your old post . I also love Lindisfarne . Indeed was in the same class as Alan Hull at school shows how old I am . However just to say. In the twilight of my years have ordered a BMW 335D Msport Xdrive. good part ex and 17.3 per cent discount. 3.9 per cent interest rate. 313 bhp 0-62 in 4.8 secs and 40-45 mpg possible. can't say how much I'm looking forward to it- hope one day you can get a similar deal!
  9. MY wife being conservative (small C) refuses to use her own key so has to use my settings. Whats worse is that the L&K has adjusting memory seats and wing mirrors! She complains about both of the following 1 She doesnt want to remember to use her own key and 2. She finds it irritating that the seat and mirrors move back for me after she opens the door. Now what does Catch 22 mean? OR is this called the irrationality of women!
  10. Thanks to boss and others? this sums it up for me. - 0-62 in the time he quotes. If you're driving on the A1 with the lorries on the inside all the time you'd get frustrated. my mate does do some long journeys. worried also about comparisons !!! I' m about to get a BMW 335D with 0-62 in 4.8 seconds for a saloon! If he travels with me then gets in his 60 PS Fabia he might feel the comparison badly!
  11. I've got a friend who is taken with the idea of the latest offer of a deal on the basic Fabia S 1.2. I see its got 60 PS - he's by no means a big engine buff but will this amount of horsepower suffice.
  12. I came late to this but urge you to know that no one who is a member of a user forum is paying full price for a new BMW of whatever size . There is a regular £7500 to £10,000 off the pcp terms with or without part ex. sorry that's for a 330D or 335D. if you want to buy a BMW , particularly theF30, trawl through the F30post web site. I got £7500 off my March 2014 335D order as a result of seeing what others had done. the record appears to be 22 per cent off! still an expensive car but low emissions and 40 mpg should be achievable in Eco or Comfort mode - it also has sport and sport plus which could be renamed "lose your licence" mode! Most people have gone crazy with extras but I kept to a simple adaptive suspension, variable steering and electric memory seats.
  13. Kiddy - from another Geordie. Try the equivalent forum for bmw ie bimmerforums or F30post for F30s. 2012 onwards. Have a BMW 335D msport XDRIVE on order (0-60 in 4.8 secs yet 40 mpg). Looking forward to it as you may imagine. By the way if you buy new read the forum as a must. Posters on F30 post regularly are getting 16 to 20 per cent off PCP purchase price say between £6000 -and £10,000. This makes second hand buying for nearly new as very risky.
