    Tried your little in gear test this morning on my way to work.
    30-60 MPH in 3rd gear took just under 8 seconds.
    30-60 MPH in 4th gear took just under 13 seconds.
    4th gear laboured a bit at 30 MPH but soon picked up as the turbo started spinning and 3rd gear started pulling straight away and felt quite strong from the off.
    The 1.2 TSI punches above it's weight for a small engine and is a hoot to drive and I get low 40s mpg all of the time mostly doing urban and town driving.
