    O.k. experiment done and I think I understand what's going on. In my address I had the street as  "South Bristol Business Park,Roman Farm Road". If you remove the South Bristol Business Park bit, it works fine. The default action of the sat nav if it doesn't recognise the input format is to go to the centre of the nearest town, in this case 'Bristol Airport' (yes there is a town called that in the sat nav). I had one other address that didn't work. Its 19 Peel Close, Woodley, RG54SR. In this case the sat nav doesn't recognise a street called Peel Close in Woodley and so routes to the centre of Woodley instead.
     
    Lesson is, if you route from a contact check where it's taking you as it might not be to the location of the postcode!
