I think to be honest it runs too well for the belt to be one tooth out. It starts very well, and idles very well too, and although I find it sluggish, it's not so bad as I would expect with the cam timing out. But there again, who knows unless it's stripped and the timing is checked

Yes, I agree, got to rev it like a petrol engine, I was trying to increase my MPG, that's why I was driving slowly, when I drive it like a petrol engined car I get 38mpg at best. Just did a short motorway trip at 60mph to 70mph this afternoon, maybe 35 miles, according to the dash readout I averaged 34MPG. Yes, the regen is just to raise the exhaust temperature, you put it in the tank. I'll get some Wurth DPF cleaner when the tankful is depleted. Can't do any harm. Can you remember which one you used?.

That's interesting. I have some JLM DPF Regen plus in at the moment, and the DPF according to the Diagnostic that was done, measured the oil/ash volume was at around 33gms, 35gms is the limit seemingly, or did I pick that up incorrectly?. How do you know when it's doing a regen?, the fan stays on?, can't say I've noticed.

Well, perhaps I'm expecting too much at low revs?. I had wondered about a remap, but if there's a fault I would like to get that fixed first. As Urrel says, it goes ok (I think, I haven't driven another one?) above 1500rpm, but not being able to put the car into 5th until over 50mph is a pain, and I'm sure the fuel consumption will be even worse?.

Ah well, the throttle valve was indeed dirty, cleaned it all off, sparkling now, but alas no change. Maybe it idles slightly smootherComing up the not very steep hill to my house, 40mph limit, doing around 38mph in forth, around 1400rpm, foot to the floor, nothing happens except the engine shakes like blazes.got to change into third to get it back up to 40mph, it has to be above 1500rpm or it just goes nowhere. I did notice the EGR port opening was facing down to the ground, not to the inlet manifold. Does this mean the fix hasn't been done?. Any other ideas folks?

Hi, Thanks for the replies. The car starts and idles perfectly, no black smoke, definitely running on 4. although a bit sluggish on rev pickup. I would have expected perhaps black smoke if the pump timing was out?, or of course if it were not supplying enough fuel at any given revs, the equivalent of running weak, this could cause my problems?. As it has been like this, or similar, from new according to the first owner, is it possible the pump timing has always been out?. When you read this and other forums, the 1.6 greenline has huge variations in fuel consumption, and I guess to meet the low emissions the fuel monitoring must be exact?. The first owner said he was always disappointed in the fuel consumption and performance.

Hi, I'm just outside Livingston. Yes, cam belt fitted about 5k miles ago, fully serviced so fuel filter replaced. Thing is it was not perfect before, but worse now. I'm the second owner, a friend was the first, he reckons it's been like this from new, but not as bad. He specifically asked for the fix not to be done, but when I look it up with the VIN on the Skoda site it said my car was not affected, which according to people on this site means it has been done?. Alan.

Any recommendations for a Skoda independent in Central Scotland to have a look at it?, and do what I have no idea?, if it all checks out ok on the computer.
  9. Hi Folks, Just had number 1 injector replaced on my 1.6 greenline 2012, open circuit. Got it back and the performance is even worse than it usually is. It shudders and shakes worse than it used to below 1500rpm, and won't pull up a fairly slight hill at 50mph in top, just won't accelerate, you have to change down to 4th. Even at 70mph, although smoother, it doesn't pull very well. I drove about 140 miles today, 90% motorway at 70mph on the cruise control, averaged 38.8mpg, which isn't that different to what I normally get, slightly worse, and believe me, I don't drive hard at all, my Yeti is the thirstiest car I've had for many years, if I average over 40mpg trying hard I'm doing well. I took it back to the garage, they checked it out while I was watching, EGR and DPF fine, all check out ok, injectors coded and matched, spray patterns within parameters, no fault codes coming up, any ideas?. Got to say, lovely car, but really a pain, at just under 80k miles it's never really gone properly, just one thing after another. Alan
  10. Hi Folks, I've bought a can of DPF cleaner, well, the additive anyhow, I'll run that though by putting it into the tank. I think the suggestion about cleaning the throttle valve may be worthwhile, however, speaking to my pal, the first owner, he said he has always been disappointed with the fuel consumption, I'm still wondering if the "fix", was done, and is responsible to an extent?. Thanks, Alan.
  11. I spoke to my pal, the original owner, this afternoon. He got the letter about the fix and said he didn't want it done, and assumed it wasn't done, but now I wonder. I need to have a look. Can anyone recommend a remap?. Thanks for the info folks, very well received. Alan.
  12. I think I'll have a look to see if the flow device is fitted, that will tell a story. I just spoke to my pal, he said he got a letter, but specifically asked for the fix not to be done, however, I suppose the garage could have done it anyway?, I'll have a look. So, does anyone recommend a remap for economy?, regardless of whether or not the fix has been done?. Alan.
  13. Hi Again, My mistake, I was confusing oil temp and water temp, yes, the water temp sits perfectly at 90. Alan.
  14. Hi Folks, Well, I did think there was a fault with the brakes, they would stick on for a second or two after taking my foot off the brake pedal, so I checked all the callipers, slides etc, they were all spot on. After doing all that I checked this informative forum only to find the elegance has hill assist on the brake pedal!. So, the brakes are fine, it rolls very free. I only have an oil temp gauge, which sits vertically when the oil is up to temp. I can only assume the thermostat is OK, the heater works just fine. It had an injector replaced just before I got it, it was coded in properly, and the volumes of the injectors were all matched up ok. It's had injector cleaner through it. I usually check at the pump, it seems to match very closely to the display on the dash. The car is set to imperial MPG. I bought it from a pal, he bought it new, and said he's never had much more than low 40's with it?, but he definitely drove it harder than me, speed limits are there for rough guidance as far as he's concerned!, HA!. The worst I've had is 39mpg, the best 43.7 over a full tank. Alan
  15. And I can't say I've noticed the fan running or a hot smell. Alan.
  16. OK, if in doubt, look up the manual. I have never seen the DPF light come on in 2600 miles? Alan.
  17. Hi Folks, Thanks for the replies, My car has 79K miles on it. I have no idea about the Regens, how do I check?. I put in the VIN number and VW said my car didn't need the fix. Alan.
  18. Hi folks, New to the forum, so a question out of interest to start please?. My car is a 2012 Yeti Greenline Elegance I've read quite a few posts referring to fuel consumption of the 1.6 diesel engined car, and noticed the very large difference in fuel consumption from one seemingly identical car to the other. Now, while I'm quite aware that the biggest single difference is likely to be caused by the driver, I just wondered if an actual fault or solution had been discovered?. I read with surprise that people average mid 50's to the UK gallon, and on a (slowish) run can achieve MPG in the 60's!. Now, here's the thing, I can easily eke a very good fuel consumption out of my motorcycles, my previous cars, both diesel and petrol, and indeed my classic car, but the lovely Yeti defeats me!. It seems to do 41 to 43MPG no matter how I drive it. Long journeys at 60MPH on motorways with the cruise control on, or off, yields 43MPG max, way off of other owners reports, The car is al;ways serviced, no fault codes, drives beautifully. The display can read a better instant consumption if I keep it below 1500rpm, but I have to say it feels way overgeared to be doing that, the engine does not sound happy, in fact, it sounds laboured below 1500. To illustrate how miserly I can be with my driving, I have in the past managed 38MPG in my 2 1/2 litre V8 engined car, the petrol station up North was closed, I had to make it to the next one!. So, any fixes known?, or is it just the way they are?.Cheers, Alan.

Hi Folks, Just joined so I thought a hello might be in order. I have a Yeti 1.6 Greenline Elegance, 2012, quite new to me, had it for about 6 months. Like the car, very comfortable compared to the quite low spec cars we've had in the past. No real problems with it, I'm just a curious sort, so I like forums. Cheers, Alan.
