    Just an update to confirm that filing the lugs on either end of the pads solved the problem, they were just too tight fitting.
     
    How much did I take off?  Well, quite a lot as it happens, I had to remove about 1mm from each end and about 0.5mm from the width of the lugs to get to the point where they were snug - (insert and remove by hand without feeling loose).  I also greased them with copper grease.
     
    I've driven a bit since including a 3 hour run yesterday to make sure it stayed fixed and it has.
