  1. Fake elvis's post in estate boot will not close! was marked as the answer   
    just an update!
     
    AndyVee did a VCDS scan on it and it showed nothing obvious on the locking mechanism - sending a test signal to the locking actuator thingy though did show it was "trying" to work but wasn't - remarkably, after the high tech diaognosis hitting it with a hammer fixed it... 
     
    So a HUGE thanks to Andy for helping me out!
