Oil Leak HTP engine

Featured Replies

Hi There

I have noticed an oil leak (grease leak?) on my 1.2 HTP, it all started when the car was almost new, when I notice that the left innermost ball joint on the drive shaft was a bit sticy looking at it I could see that some clear oil (grease) had been leaking or dripping on the shaft, as there was an oil trace of Oil/grease from the rotating shaft, looking at the engine I could also see a drip of oil on the engine plastic as it had been in the line of the 'spray' (the big black plastic intake thing!), I took it to the dealer and they tightened the joint, but my question was if the Oil was dripping from the engine as the drops on the engine would drip down on the joint, OR was the drops coming from the joint so it was grease that was sprayed instead?, as of today I checked by putting my hand behind the airfilter (close the firewall) and feel if there is any oil,-and indeed there was a coupe of drops and a bit sticky underneath the intake...that worries me a bit the oil seems clear, and I have tried to see where it comes from, I cannot see any clear sign of leaking oil from the top of the engine!, also the ball joint seems only to be oily, not any part of the shaft on both sides (gearbox/wheel) seems to be leaking.

the leak seems to be very small though...but now it been going on for over a year...
