Horn problem

Featured Replies

I'm having problems with my horn ;)

I've stuck vag-com on it with no errors.

I've also done an 'output' test and it sounded the horn ! The steering wheel press doesn't make a sound however.

I've replaced the slip ring as this was cracked, but it didn't work before or after.

Any ideas?

P.S I've got an Ibiza 2003 TDI 130

That means the horn relay is working. All there is left is the horn switch, slip rings and the wiring.

IIRC, the horn relay is relay 53. The horn will sound when the horn switch wire is grounded. On an Octavia the cable is Brown/Blue

I've had the airbag off and the switch looks ok and i've checked the switch to ground, which is fine according to the multimeter.

As said, I've replaced the slip ring.

I can't find relay 53?? Is it not built in to a control module?

So if you take the horn switch lead off in the steering wheel and ground it with the ignition on, does it sound?
