Engine wanted

Featured Replies

Hello people, does anybody have a spare 130 engine they would like to sell?

I think you'll be lucky....theyre getting rare these days. It would be easier to buy a Favorit or Felicia engine and swap a few bits over to make it work.

I have a Favorit 136B engine with Felicia MPi head for sale. the block has done 60k, not sure about the head, its complete though.

The 136B block is the high compression one so good for a few more horses than the standard 136 engine found in the Favorit, also the MPi head is better flowed from stock than the standard 136 head.

I was going to fit this setup in my 88 Estelle, which if anyone is interested I am also selling.

PM me if you are interested in the engine. I also have a full semi trailling arm setup to convert swing axeled estelles and a spare Rapid 5 speed gearbox. Oh And a set of Spax lowering springs (-30mm)

The MPI head is a better flow design but the valve springs are a nightmare because theyre not designed to rev and there is no off the shelf available alternative. Regular runs of over 5500 will snap the springs (as I found out) because theyre shaped like a beehive and designed for quiet running not motorsport.

Its possible to convert other springs, such as some BL mini ones to fit though.

iirc teflon tom is giving away a 1.3MPI if your quick.

I hope its not a late model.....or you may need to get the crank machined:mad:

If its earlier then youre fine, just make sure you look up the guide Ive attached to a couple of threads on here as to what you need to change over.

Well I have fitted a felicia 1.3 engine to replace my 130, I am just waiting for a new electric fuel pump before starting it. 7 hours and a lot of back ache. i hope this will work! i have a few points: the fit is pretty straight forward swapping a few studs and the flywheel, i'm hoping the lack of a bearing behind the flywheel will not be detrimental, the hole is now filled with copper slip. I will let you know how it goes.

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but if you are saying there is no spigot bearing fitted then that will indeed be detrimental.

Should have read the guide I mentioned!:thumbdwn: If the crank deosnt have a removable solid metal wahser where the bearing would go then you will need to get the crank machined. If it does have the washer then you need to replace it with a bearing.

You shouldnt need an electronic fuel pump either......the standard Skoda item is good for tuned engines (up to a point) and they are very reliable. You must ensure that youve swappwd the sump and oil pick up too.

I now attach the guide for your perusal -

Ive put an engine from a Favorit GLi into an Estelle 105.

You need to replace the following items on the Favorit engine with the Estelle version -

1. sump

2. oil pick up

3. water pump

4. crank pulley

5. alternator and mounting brackets

6. clutch

7. engine mounts

Unless youve got a carb Favorit with points ignition, you also need to change the distributor (I opted for a full Favorit electronic system from Jorily) and put the Estelle fuel pump onto the Favorit (you need to change over the studs as the ones on the Favorit engine will be too short)

You also need to swap the spigot washer thingumy at the clutch end of the crank for the bearing on the Estelle engine (or buy a new sealed 6202 bearing....less than a £10 so worth it!)

Last but not least, you need to tap off the ring gear on the outside of the Estelle flywheel and put it onto the Favorit flywheel by heating the Favorit wheel up in the oven first (having already removed the Favorit ring gear of course!!) and then tapping on the Estelle version.

You will also need to source an inlet and exhaust manifold.....Jorily sells both new but they cost. Ive opted for the good old banana manifold and Weber DCOE.I believe the Favorit exhuast manifold can be made to fit and if you can find a carb Favorit the manifold from that will also work but it'll sit at a wierd angle.

I think thats everything, although a couple of the studs on the bellhousing needed moving to different holes ......I reckon I could do the whole job in about 5 hours now if I had all the parts and tools to hand

Ive done this a couple of times now....in fact its like the hokey cokey in my garage some weeks...engine in, engine out etc etc!

hello, why do I need the bearing? and why do I need to change the sump and oil pickup? surely the felicia engine has a decent setup. am I being dumb?

I cant actually remember why you need the bearing but it was explained on the owners forum and its a must. You need the sump and oil pick up because the engine sits at a totally different angle in an Estelle to one in a Favorit/Felicia.

And also with the engine being the other way round, you will suffer severe oil starvation under acceleration.

The fwd gearbox doesnt use an input shaft "nose" bearing, the rwd transaxle does, hence the bearing required. Without it, you will suffer from massive vibration and wreck the clutch / release bearing / input shaft / shaft bearing etc in no time....:rotz:

Thanks Kieran. I didnt read it very carefully or remember I just did it!

Ref the oil system design, you've changed the engine orientation in the chassis by 90 degrees, so where the Furbie threw oil to one end or other of the sump under hard cornering, the Estelle will throw the oil to the side of the sump.
