Skoda quoted a 0-60 time of 10 seconds in the article above for this mean machine. Twenty years on their official time for the Fabia vRS 0-60 is 9.6 isn't it?

You gotta love that. This Sport 130 must have been a beast in it's day! :D

I think the 0-60 quote for the 130 was a little optimistic.

0-60 = 9.6 is actually the 0-100kmh (0-62mph) figure which is 9.6. The correct 0-60mph is 9.3secs.

That 130 L Sport lived by me in Peterborough for most of its life, remember seeing it around lots of times.D879FYE was a black 130 Rapid Cabrio. The 0-60 time was more like 12.5 seconds, Skoda were sooooo optimistic there....it was 15.5 secs official for a standard 58 bhp 130, so 17 more bhp aint going to whach 5.5 secs off the time lol. Bags of fun though.

Thanks to me you mean! its on my server!

There was one that was languishing in a backyard a few months ago on here down in Dorset. I believe it was repatriated with some Czech guys driving all the way over here to pick it up: Nice little car:)

bet it was fun goin round corners in the wet lol :giggle:

Fantastic article! The engine in that car is what the 1.4 MPi in the Fabia is based on , is that correct? Whatever , it was nice to read a positive ( ass opposed to a **** take) review of a rear engined Skoda. Does anyone know how many of those Sport conversions were done?

No its not really the same engine....the block and layout is roughly the same but the cylinder heads are different. The basic engine design (4 cylinder, non crossflow, 8v) ran from the 1960s up to the early noughties but the cylinder head changed from cast iron to alloy and from 5 port to 8 in the late 80s/early 90s. This is also when they started making the pistons out of cadbury's crunchie!

Not sure how many.............. but there were quite a few in the Glasgow area, two in white one of which was allegegly the Glasgow motor show car from 1986, a pale blue one in Bishopbriggs. Also met a chap in Dalkieth that had a red one complete with roll cage. I remember getting a run round in it, quite nippy it was, but remember this was 22 year ago !!

sadly no longer around, acording to dvla.
