Wax Advice..... Please!

Featured Replies

I have an Anthracite grey VRS, and need some help when it comes to detailing it. I am a bit new to this, but seing some of the photos on here, does make me want to get outside on a nice warm day and give the car some love!

Heres what im planning so far....

Snow Foam using the Karcher foam lance (Which by the way, is ****!)

Wash using Autoglym shampoo.

A good claying, to get rid of all the tar that has suddenly appeared.

Polish using Autoglym super resin polish.

Some Autoglym extra gloss protection.

My real question is, does the extra gloss protection count as "Wax" or should I be applying wax aswell, if so, at what stage? What wax would you reccomentd for my car, to give it a really glossy reflective finish?

I already have everything, except the wax, in fact I got to the claying stage and it started raining, ****** weather! :wonder:

Thanks in advance.

Dan

No need to use AGSRP on a new car IMO

Get some Poorboys Black hole glaze instead.

Its fantastic stuff.

You can then use a sealer and wax on top..of your choice...in that order..about 2 hours or more apart

Mine has had this treatment from new

Thanks, Its on order!

Just got to wait for the rain to stop now!

One thing I cant get my head around, is that you put sealer (AG EGP) on before you apply a wax? I would have thought it would be the other way around?

Any suggestions on a good wax for dark cars?

I heared someone say this before. How come? I've always used it on all my cars. I thought it was OK.

Sorry..Sealer last

Best wax is Dodo Juice Supernatural BUT its too expensive for me

Collinite 915

AG HDWax

are both very good indeed. I use Collinite in the winter..HDWax in the summer

AGSRP is a polish, fine abrasives and fillers. You dont have scratches on new paint so no need

A glaze like PB BHole is better IMO its also a million times better to work with and gives out no dust like AGSRP does

IMHO even a new car can be swirled, if your using an oily glaze, EGP won't bond to it, so use a wax. Something like Pete's 56 or Colly 845.

Big fan of collinite 476s here.

I now have some poorboys glaze, and a big tin of Collinite 476S so we will see how that goes.

Im thinking a couple of coats of the glaze, followed by a couple of coats of the Collinite, will see how that turns out.

Thanks for your replys!

PB Glaze has cleaners in it so would remove the previous layers, not sure if there would be a benefit. For summer something like Natty's or Vics is good.

PB BH can be layered with sealers and waxes

Thats what I thought.

Got 4 days off after today, so we will see what she ends up looking like. Just got to hope this feckin weather holds off a bit.

Arr yes but Poorboys World EX Sealant with Carnauba is a synthetic wax sealant much like 845, but BH still has cleaners in so would be interested in a 50/50 one coat against maybe two or three.
