Broken ABS senson

Featured Replies

OK,

When i was fitting my weitechs i slipped with the hammer and hit the ABS sensor and broke it. I tried gluing it together but this hasnt worked.

As much as i like the fact the traction control isnt working, i'm thinking the ABS will come handy again come the winter.

Is this a hard thing to replace? I Cant remember if it was just the sensor or if it was the sensor and plug I broke.

Any help appreciated

The sensor is easy to replace - just 1 bolt - torque is 8Nm.

What if its the plug i have damaged also? Where does the wiring go to?

Its been a couple of years since I changed one but I think we ended up undoing the bolt, applying loads of plusgas to the bracket holding the sensor, then taking the brake disc off and poking the sensor through from the outside, it was the only way we could get the bracket to move as it was practically fused with the hub carrier. I think the sensors were about £25-30 each :S

Check the wiring and if it looks damaged then just repair it with a new piece of wire, solder and heatshrink. Or if the multiplug is wrecked you can get the multiplug and a short length of the wires to solder on from a dealer.

Perfect! Maybe i should see how much a dealer would take. I honestly thought gluing it would have fixed it, but i've maybe got glue on the female part of the plug :S

They are very cheap about £10-15, just make sure you get the right size one and when you put it on dont get it dirty.

changed mine a few months ago, had to hammer and chisel most of the sensor out as it fell apart in my hand but other than that twas easy
