Dashboard Rattle

Featured Replies

59 plate FL VRS Estate. Anyone had the same problem. Few months ago I heard a slight rattle from the dash, and it has gradually worsened to the point of being a joke for passengers:to wit,I thought these Skodas were supposed to be well built HA HA. Sounds for all the world like a washer rattling on a bolt. It's on the right hand side of the dash and I've found that if you press the silver insert beside the switches for headlight adjustment and panel lights it stops. Rattle is intermittent, it seems that if you run over an uneven piece of road that sets it off and will rattle for the rest of the journey, whilst it can go several days and no noise. Wet/dry, turning left or right doesn't make a difference.

Been in the dealers(MSB Darlington) twice, yes sir its fixed but rattling away by the time I get to the end of the road. Service receptionist even suggested it might be the key ring!

Any helpful thoughts would be appreciated.

I know, go to another dealer.

You have my sympathies. I took my father out for a drive (he remembers when Skoda jokes were all the rage). He was surprised by two things - the quietness of the engine and the rattles from the dashboard and the rear seats. Let's face it, if you want a car that is built up to standard rather than down to cost then you have to pay. Even then things can go wrong - my wife's boss went on moneyhoon to France in his new Bentley and it broke down half way to the cote d'azure!

Remove the silver trim if it stops ,get a new one £10 or push out the clips

I must admit im disapointed with my 58 plate octy for trim rattles,i know its the vrs model with 18" wheels & sports suspension but my mk1 octy vrs with 125k didnt rattle as much as this one! I have a really bad rattle from the tailgate area, however this has only appeared since my dealer has had the trim & look mechanism off to try & fix my boot not always opening problem, hopefully when it goes in again(4th time!)they will fix the rattle!

If I ever take door cards or boot panel off I replace All plastic clips they get brittle, skoda will have broken some- or lost there clippyness ( if that is a word :giggle:) I do not trust dealers, they smashed my engine cover pulling it off! ( to replace coil packs on recall )

If you take the fusebox cover off on the RHS of the dash &/or open the storage box above your right knee you should be able to have a look in that area with a torch & see if anything is loose.
