Throttle hang/Over revving

Featured Replies

Okay this is starting to bug me a bit now and seems to be getting worse. Whilst driving I'll take my foot of the accelerator and for a second or two, it'll keep accelerating before droping the revs, then it'll start idleing just below 1500rpm, after a 5mins or so it'll clear, but then it'll come back, there's no real pattern to it, apart from it being more frequent. It's not throwing anything up on diagnostics either. Any idea's? It reminds me of when the idle air valve went on my old V6 Mondeo, well the over revving bit! Ta

Oh yeah its a 03 plate, 1.9 TDI (130) with 80k on the clock

This is just a guess, but is it possibly a sticky throttle cable/pedal?

Best of luck,

Rob

Just to update incase this is ever searched for in the future, turned out to be the CTS (Coolant temprature sensor), cost £8 and not a bad job to do, just lost a bit of coolant! And it's been fine ever since, it did throw this up as a fault code when it went in for service, but I ignored it, until I did a search and found out this sensor when nackered causes these faults on the 1.9 TDi across the VAG range :/
