Major Service

Featured Replies

Got a postcard today from Skoda Ireland offering a major service (their words) for a very tasty sounding €199.

It's claims Oil and Filter change, replace pollen filter and replace fuel filter and air filter if required along with other checks.

I've attached the details and at this price then I may have to book it in even though only have 12k miles on the clock, especially with winter coming up. Will ge them to rotate the wheels when they have them off for the brake inspection.

That will almost certainly be a fixed service, not a variable one.

Unless you intend changing to fixed servicing?

Already on fixed schedule 30k km or 18k miles.

Last fixed service on previous Octavia 1.9tdi was €286 so this offer looks temptingly6 good value. Would see me through to next replacement in either May of 2012 0r Jan 2013.

Sounds like good value alright. I'm on fixed servicing as well, perfaring to change the oil every 15,000 km for peace of mind on a TDi. Just wondering what was involved in the octavia service that cost €286, the most I ever paid for a service including all the items mentioned on the Skoda flyer, along with wheel alingment checked, wheels balanced etc was €220 with Doran Motor's in Co. Monaghan. I have found that it pays to shop around with main dealers for servicing, having been quoted from €189 up to €250 for a main dealer full service on my Yeti. With new car sales down the main dealers are getting more competitive on servicing.

18k is variable, not fixed.

Oops, dunno why I even posted that it was fixed when it's variable :o

Rang two dealers service depts today and they confirmed the service is variable.

As photoemt said, dealers here are crying out for business and becoming ever more competitive rather than the crazy pricings of the 'celtic pup'.
