  • Fuel Temp Sensor (G81) faulty

  • Check/Repair Fuel Temp Sensor (G81)

It doesn't mention anything about the EML coming on though!

A faulty temperature sender will cause the EML to come on and log a fault code. The engine ECU will derive a substitute value for an implausible reading so little or no performance loss may be noticed. When the faulty sender is replaced the EML will extinguish but the fault code will remain logged.

Early coolant temperature senders (black body) were potted in hard epoxy and thermal cycling fractured the brittle NTC elements with them. The later green ones are a bit more relaible. Avoid the Chinese ones selling for about £5 - GSF have good replacements.

rotodiesel.

Ah Mr Rotodiesel, you have explained the mystery of the old CTS, I always wondered what the problem with them was.

I don't know where the fuel temp sensor is but it does seem like someone spent a while poking around under the bonnet and now you have a warning so my first thought is has something been disconnected/damaged/pulled/bent. I would be back off the garage who serviced it.
