after market central locking wiring question

Featured Replies

Hi all.....

My 2005 1.9TDI 8 valve estate car has factory fitted key operated central locking. I am going to fit an after market remote keyless entry unit and need to connect this unit to one of the two wires that operate the central locking in the drivers door.

Are there any very clever people out there who could identify the wires that go to the lock as it goes through the A post in to the door so that I don't have to remove the door trim (and risk breaking stuff). As far as I can make out it doesn't matter which wire I connect this unit to. As far as Rclick.co.uk are concerned my car has 'Type 6 negative (ground driven)' wiring and I need to identify the wire that goes from the car central locking unit to the driver's door...... I hope this made sense

Any advice greatly appreciated

Thanks

Tom

PS Why do my postings never have bold type headings like every one else................. :(

You will probably find that the key-switch connects to the door module and the connection from there will be canbus (digital) pretty sure you are going to have to take the car apart, unless you look at a remote keyless entry that is canbus capable.
