Just bought a new Fabia

Featured Replies

Hello, got myself a new Fabia 1.2 Tsi 105 bhp. Having owned Toyota's for the last 10 years, a cracking Avensis for the last five, I was looking for a replacement, I was expecting to get another Toyota, but, I was talked into having a look at a Fabia by my son ( vrs ) and my brother (Monte Carlo) who are both Skoda mad, oh! and the VAT free deal. So i took the plunge. So far so good, hope you guys will help me in the transition from Toyota to Skoda and maybe, just maybe, i'll get the bug.

So your son convinced you ey . Good lad. Though I thought you were supposed to lead by example not other way round :)

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase.

Hi and welcome aboard.

It is a great little car and engine. I hope you enjoy it here. The Skoda community here is a tight knit and helpful one.

Thanks for the welcome. All my family and friends who have seen it say it looks great, including the two Skoda nutters. It's in Candy white, 16" Elba wheels, black side mouldings. Taking it on it's first run to Southport this afternoon, so if you see me, give us a wave.

Another white Fabia lover.

Mine is the best car I have ever owned or driven.

brashdaniels, that's one great looking car. How long have you had it and how many miles? Took the Fabia on it's maiden voyage to Southport this afternoon (Sunday) and I must say I'm quite impressed, no squeaks or rattles, nice steering and gearbox, engine very lively even though it's only done a few miles, on tick-over I thought it had stalled it was so quiet. Going to keep my eye on the oil level to see if it uses any, none of my Toyota's used a drop of oil between oil changes in ten years. So fingers crossed.

I bought this car from a dealer's ex demo stock last November. It had just over 3500km on the clock then and now it has 9700.

Hi All,

Got a Fabia 1.2 SE, used to drive a Ford Fiesta Finnese 1.2 it was a far superior car to the Fabia,

Fabia has a noisey engine is under powered, noisey inside i.e. road noise from wheels, horrible drumming in the back, had the tyres changed for a different make, still the same horrid noise, rear passengers cant hear what is being said from the front for the droning.

Not very pleased with car at all.

Am going back to dealer again next week to see if he will put car on forecourt for sale, see how much he can sell it for, it's only done 200 miles.

I know I will take a loss.

Regards smudge

Morning all, Have been back to dealer, he changed all the tyres for a different make, still noisy drumming in the back seats to the point that passengers in the back cant hear what we are saying from the front.

Drumming not so bad at higher speeds though, I think at lower speeds the engine is causing a drumming as it is working hard.

I did go back and drive the demo car again and a courtesy car we had for a day an altogether different drive, no cabin noise whatsoever, I haven't checked yet but I have a feeling the demo car was a different model, will find out next week.

Hi,

I am from Yorkshire, UK, I just bought a Fabia 1.2 htp classic 6 plate. 1 owner and full service history.

I drove it out of the showroom and to my surprise the battery was knackered, the back windscreen wiper did not work and the tracking was out, veering to the left.

I got the problem sorted at the dealer under warranty as I only had it two days.

They weren;t to know as I should imaging they did not check the battery or back wiper in the MOT.

All is well now, its on 52k. It drives well and my first questions on the forum would be the following.

Is this car big enough to tow a small garden trailer and or a SCUBA diving trailer for small equipment not weighing more than 200 kilo.

And what is the PSI of the tyres both back and front should be.

I wont be carrying passengers at all so wont be no weight apart from my self a lot of the times around 95 kilos.

I would also like a list of items I should buy in emeregencies as I haven,t had a car for a long time.

I have a rac trolley jack a brand new electric tyre pump and jump leads. Also what car cleaning gear does anyone recommend and how often is a good valet.

I am willing to spend money keeping in shape so no probs with that.

Any basic info as a new Skoda owner would be grateful.

Sean
