Water ingress - The aftermath How can I fix my electric problems?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I need some advice as my 2003 superb is dying electrically. I got the dreaded water ingress problem and seem to have fixed the leak. I am now trying the sort out the problems it has caused ...

-No interior lights.

-Only the front passenger electric window working, the rest just make a clicking noise

-No parking sensors

-Boot has to be unlocked by remote or switch on drivers door

-Turbo stopped working (unrelated)

Strangely enough the heated seats, electric seats, electric sun roof, electric mirrors all work fine ???

I have taken up the carpet, taken out seats etc and can see there is bad corrosion on the loom which is no doubt the cause.

so ........

-The block connector that plugs into the CCM has a wire fully corroded and no longer connected (not seen in picture), thus meaning that should fix one the the problems ... Can I buy a new plug, some how switch them over ?

-Even if that was possible, and i re soldered all the exposed connections in the loom that are rusted , is it possible the inside of the wires where i cant see is too badly corroded?

-Can I buy a new loom ? would that be expensive to buy / fit ?

-Probably need a new CCM , are they expensive ?

Last of all AM I WASTING MY TIME ?

Really love the car and do not want to change but do I have to ?

Any help / comments much appreciated ....
