Does anyone know if headlights from a passat would fit my superb 2007 1.9td

As when i had a bump recently, reversing car and front bumper caught a very high kerb

And ended up pulling bumper free from fixings at on side, during which i broke intter cooler (now fixed)

And i noticed the thin plastic strip that attaches headlight at top and is prob used fro adjustment ,has snapped

The rest of headlight is fine, just that bit broken, wondered if i could use headlight from old style passat??

Or is there anyway of repairing original .mot due in 3 weeks,

any help much appreciated ..

Those brackets are fixed and hold the whole assembly rigidly in place (along with 2 others) - headlamp adjustment is carried out using white nylon screw adjusters.

Mine both snapped as well.

Whilst having some work done on the suspension I mentioned it to my local independent VAG specialist and he immediately got one of his lads to bond them together for me, I think with a bit of something like a strip of baked bean tin to add support, with what he described as an engineering epoxy. It was black, and presumably is some sort of high strength Araldite.

He gave the impression that it was a common problem.

If you have a local motor factors or engineering disposables suppliers try talking to them and see if they can suggest something.

The alternatives are either a new headlamp unit, which I think was about £250 - £280, or try to find on in a scrappers. I tried just about every scrapper advertising a Mk I Superb on e-bay, and every one had either sold them, or they were broken the same.
