Baker21's Superb - Ownership Ends

Featured Replies

Well yesterday the Superb was picked up by it's new owner and I just wanted to put up a thread on here about my ownership.

I bought the Superb after wasting a lot money modifying a VW Bora Sport with a very poor 2.0 engine that cost me a fortune in maintenance and running costs, the Superb at the time seemed like the sensible choice.

The Superb was bought with 86k on the clock back in October 2005 and as it was my Dad's previous company car I knew it had been well maintained.

After some money spent on suspension, tints and wheels (which there have been many) the Superb year after year drove well returning over 50mpg and 650 miles per tank.

So nearly 8 years later it has been sold with 246k on the clock and throughout all this time the only mechanical failure I have ever had was the vacuum pump, the car still has the original engine, clutch, exhaust, gearbox, etc and runs as sweet as a nut.

I can honestly say that it's been a pleasure owning this car and for the money I ended up selling it for, it's cost around £500 per year without taking into account fuel and running costs :)

This forum has been a great help over the years and I would like to thank anyone that has provided advice or supoport for the Superb and if you still own yours then I wish you happy continued mileage with yours ;)

I completed a final detail the day before the new owner picked it up and some details on this can be found here:

And so, it's time to move on and I couldn't resist a final image:

All the best everyone.

Simon, I bet it was gut wrenching to see her go.

Lets hope the new owner treats her the same.

It was weird seeing it got but it was the right time to move it on :)

I know it will be looked after and I am sure I will see it again at some point :)

If there is one thing you can say about your Superb Simon it's......

Now there's something you don't see everyday,

I still remember mine fondly, a total underdog of a car for it's time, but what an underdog it was.

I'm usually a bit sad to see a car go once sold. It didn't help when I sold my RX7. The guy that bought it promised to look after it and treat it with the same care I had shown it .... then left two 100ft streaks of rubber on the tarmac as he left. Awesome car that thing. Truly awesome. Anyhow, back on topic ....

Well Simon everything has it's time buddy, and it probably was the right time to let someone else have the joy of the Superb. Now, be honest, it's not really the car you're going to miss but rather this lovely, welcoming forum, right?

You could well be right there buddy, I will still be in the background no doubt but this forum has changed over the many years I have been on it but I guess that's the case with all things :(
