Reservoir/equalization tank?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

My 135 GLi is one part away from being road worthy for the first time in over a decade.

Can anyone confirm that this is a reservoir/equalization tank? And does anyone know where I can get one?

I have had no luck with skopart.de

My next question is whether it is indeed just a tank (containing no mechanical parts) or whether it's a more complicated device. If it's nothing more than a tank, I suppose it can be cleaned up like a regular fuel tank. My issue is that it is clogged with rust and old fuel.

Is that not the charcoal canister that the fuel breather pipes vent to for emissions purposes?

No, but it's very similar in appearance. Here's part of the fuel system diagram. The carbon canister has three hoses going into it whereas the reservoir tank has four hoses going into it.

I think you won't find a new one, so I'd suggest you try and clean it.

I'm in a similar situation with my Walbro AC, it was full of rust and it took a day to clean it. Now it's up and running and I will re-fit it to the car tomorrow.
