Should it be better

Featured Replies

My Superb now has around 12.5k on the odometer. Just arrived in Gatwick, from Cardiff in about three hours. The drive was fairly steady, maximum, 80, generally 70, with bits at around 50.

The MFD, which is usually not too far off showed 41.3. My previous car a Saab 9.3 convertible (so fairly heavy), also a diesel auto (and 6 speed), regularly achieved 46 mpg.

Am I being optimistic hoping it improves with a few more miles on the clock? It's the same journey, same driver and the Skoda motor is a newer design.

One of the main differences will be the extra weight and drag of the haldex 4x4 system.

My 4x4 170 is averaging 43 ish at the moment (but mfd tells me 47)

My 4x4 170 CR TDi averages a genuine 47mpg but the display says anything upto 56mpg.

Different engine I know but mine really loosened up around 15k - literally overnight the MPG improved.

I know mine is a 2 wheel 140 but I also noticed an improvement at about 5k and then another leap at about15k as mentioned above.

Mine has done roughly 8500 so hopefully will improve in a while!
