Will Sachs clutch and DMF be fine for my vrs spec?

Featured Replies

My vrs has just ticked over 130k and on the way back from Skeg my clutch started to slip. Just looking on euro and I think I'm going to go for Sachs DMF, clutch and csc. Will this be fine for me running faboka high torque map? The original clutch in it has been fine until today and I always said I'd go solid flywheel when it needed one but after hearing dans rattle the other week it's put me off as I think I'd struggle to sell it/trade it in when it sounds like that.

I'm not going to go anymore power but this is my daily/work car so want it to last. I never boot it below 2k and don't ride the clutch etc but just want to check there's no better option for me at around the same price £350-400ish

Go for it

Mine is still spot on and for under 300 for dmf clutxh and bearing its great.

I thought exactly the same! there must be a heavy duty single mass flywheel/clutch that can give to close noise output as oem

Valeo apparently do a kit that is silent and single mass....

CG Motorsports do this kit;

its ment to be heavy weight and quiet

It says in 90% of cases it's silent, if I was in the 10% that rattled I know it would put people off when I come to sell it as if they're not clued up on cars they'll probably think it's ****ed.

The cheapest I can get the sachs stuff down to on carparts4less is £344 am I worth waiting a week or so to see if they have any deals on?

Good luck if you go cg motorsport mate. Mine was shocking and didnt last long. Was not right when taken off within 6 months neither.

I was the same. No way would anyone buy the car with that crap on it. The noise is unreal really.

Stick with std unless you going major power.

Billy I literally saw your post dude and read your woes soon after I posted what I did... Not good at all!!

Smooth oem clutch I'm guessing would be the best way forward

I mean do these dmf clutches really have that short of a lifespan?

Anyone have a link cheapest place to get it?? Carparts4less seems cheapest so far

Seems like the sachs setup is the best route for me then. I saw someone get it for £305 off carparts4less so might hang on for a week or so and see if they have a deal on as I'm sure I can manage with it if I drive it normally and failing that I can just load up the lower torque map to help it out abit

Yea mate car parts 4 less.

I git mine when they had £5 off £50, £10 off £75 and £15 off £100.

I ordered each part on separate orders and just added some filters and small stuff ide need at some point so got £45 off 3 orders.

If you need more power then more money needs to be spent. The dmf is still good to a point coupled with a better plate.

I drove my car with a slippimg clutch for months. Had car remapped and straight away it slipped. Just took iteasy all the time to prolong the life as much as ppossible but with a full car it was hopeless after a few months mind I was doing 20-25k a year to and from work.

Car is really nice now and I can drive it without worrying. I can put foot when ever with no slip.

Granted a remapped car will wear things out faster. The clutch is no different.

Just take care of it but that doesnt mean you cant drive it.

Strangely tho I still have the cg kit in my garage lol.

I run the valeo smf kit and I'm very pleased with it. I run a stage 2 hybrid with alot of torque and its never missed a beat with me. Occasionally chatters in traffic but not very noticeable. I think it was £300 from Euro car parts. I got a heavy trade discount but I am very pleased with it 9 months of hard driving on.

Saw that kit aswell mate, do you have a vid of what the chatter is like??

Cheers

what torque figures are you running? Might be worth me buying one of these as a cheap upgrade untill I can afford a helix !

I havent got a vid mate, but will try get one and post it up so you can hear chatter. I rarely notice it ever tbh.

Im approx 350 lbfts, waiting for another rolling road as map has been changed recently and more powerful now. Never slipped once though on me. Is a suprise but a good one!

good stuff

I wonder why these DMF'S are so flimsey surely you would have thought they would have made some kinda forged DMF unit that can withstand abuse

Sachs have made one but it costs nearly as much as the SMF kit and it's not quite as strong
