Skoda Fabia MDI problem

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

So I have a 2013 Fabia with MDI located in the passenger side of the car.

I got a cable for MDI > Iphone and that worked great!

However, I brought a Samsung Galaxy S5 - I had to buy new MDI cable, and tried 3 different cable (2 charger cables and 1 data cable which looks like Galaxy NOTE 3 charger) - the problem is. I am unable to get it to read the device in order to play Music. If I use the AUX port, it is ok but does not charge but the sound is really really low and the phone is set up to maximum with the radio on like 25. Even tried 30 and was ok but still very quiet.

Do you guys have suggestions?

you can set the aux sensitivity level

page 4 of the radio manual

you want setting LEV 3 below

Press the menu control button 2 for a long period of time.

Select the individual functions of the menu with the help of the station keys.

Set the desired value using the menu control button 2 or with the help of the

station keys.

AUX

Switching on or off the functions of the external audio source.

Setting of the input sensitivity

AUX LEV:

LEV 1

- high level, used in particular for notebooks;

LEV 2

- middle level, used for cassettes or CD player;

LEV 3

- low level, used for MP3 player

Thanks, I will try this. Do you know how I can set AUX as primary, so I can charge the phone whilst listening to Spotify ? - If I plug in device from MDI, it charges which is what I want but if I got AUX in and charging device, it stops using the AUX :(

not sure you can

the other option is a USB charger in the cigarette lighter for charging and the aux for sound

but this then means you have additional cables rather than being able to hide it in the cubby where the MDI is

the other option is the MDI with standard USB you can plug a memory stick in then use the USB charger in the lighter socket purely to charge the phone

Ok thats cool - Do you think Skoda will do anything about this? It's not good the fact that Iphone allows a single lead from MDI and then Samsung doesn't - what do you think about this?

The idea of having Spotify is that I could download some songs and then play them directly? Surly if I got a USB I can't update the song lists?

Claims it charges the device also?

3.5mm jack MDI cable will not charge the phone, just connects audio, same as the aux jack in the front of the radio or down by handbrake depending on the model

I had a note 2 and got the official MDI cable from Skoda it charged the phone and played music but did not show on the amunsden+ screen and could only change the track via the phone......the cable went back, seems the stereos are geared towards apple devices so maybe try an Ipod if you have one or if you still have the iPhone stick a payg sim on it and use that as a music player?
