Hi Guys looking for some advice on a 09 VRS

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

I am from Singapore currently looking at a

09 Skoda Octavia VRS to purchase

The car is about 110000km / 70000miles in millege.

Is there anything to take note of when purchasing a car of this age?

I have heard about the timing chain running the risk being stretched? And I was wondering what are the preventative measure I can take to prevent this from happening?

Because I am intending to swap out the K03 for K04 hybrid as to put down a little more power but before I put down the cash I want to be sure that it's not inferior in a way to the GTI etc because Skodas are very rare in Singapore and I want to create a sleeper.

This is the link to the car I am interested in.

Yeah it's £32000+ (Singapore sucks)

Hope I can get some feedback before I take the plunge from the gurus and enthusiasts here.

Cheers

The DSG auto box requires the oil changing every 40,000 miles so its due soon, the issue with the timing chain is the tensioner can fail & cause expensive damage to the engine, you can replace the tensioner with the latest one & get the chain & guides inspected or replaced at the same time.

See here for more info on the tensioner chain...

It is a nice spec too, front and rear parking sensors, sat nav, leather seats, auto lights and wipers and xenons (not bi-xenon as per the advert), all these are cost options here in the UK.

Although for £32,000 I'd want all the options!

Actually, pay me £32,000 and I'll find you the best right hand drive MkII vRS in the UK and ship it over to you!
