Rear door locks

Featured Replies

Occasionally both my rear doors fail to unlock using the key but usually unlock from the door switch. However the r.h. rear door is refusing to unlock at all now. Even pulling the inside handle doesn't work. The button will raise then just go back down when you release the handle, consequently the door cannot be opened.

Any way round this? Keep trying the door switch to no avail. My mechanic says it will probably unlock eventually, but i somehow doubt it.

Sure someone has come across this before.

Cheers, Derek.

Lock unlock lock unlock worked for me. Odd number of lock cycles. The actual reason why this works is too complicated to explain but try it.

Failing that, as you unlock give simultaneously the door a bit of a whack. The vibration is normally just enough to reconnect the cracked solder in the circuit board. Vibrations are what fatigued it in the first place. If you manage to open the door I advise removing the door lock mechanisms and repairing. Basically apply proper lead solder to all the connections. Alternative approach that has been done is to put the whole mechanisms into the oven for a couple of hours. I can't remember the temperature but obviously needs to be close to the melting temp of solder.

Thank for the reply. Sold the car. Only bought it for the winter anyway. Interior lights frazzled the other day too so thought i better get rid. Made a hundred quid on it as well!!!

Interior lights gone = car full of water at some point.  Probably what did your locks in too.  Same computer.
