RS8 19" Alloys for Superb - will they fit ?? any pics ??

Featured Replies

Been looking to change the standard 17" Elegance alloys for some 18" or 19". I really like the Audi RS8 design and have found some cheap. Using a tyre size calculator I have worked out that 225/40/18 and 235/35/19 will both fit the superb. Does anyone have decent pics of 18" or 19" RS8 alloys??? and any comments relating to them. These arew the links for the cheapest I have found so far.

18" RS8 =

I am afraid that I don't have any pics mate but I wouldn't have thought you would have any problems fitting them in either 18's of 19's.

The only problem you will have may be on full lock with the 19's but then maybe someone else will be able to confirm this.

I would however suggest that if you get bigger rims then you may wish to lower it as with the 19's you may make it look like a tractor IMO.

I don't envisage any problems with 18's at all.

me too am thinking of changing my 17" alloys for 18" chrome ones for the summer.

but my m8 said the ride will be seriously harsh with 18"....never mind 19" ones.

dunno...i,ll need to look into it more

Your mate may well be right but if you are keeping the standard suspension then I doubt you will notice much difference at all.

Changing wheel size from a 17 to an 18 will yield little difference in the ride quality IMHO.

I'm running on 19''..Ride is firm but smooth.depending rubber used.not harsh for me.

I'm also on Koni's adjustable Coilovers. they are e hardest compare to KW,Bilstein.

cheers

£575 for 18s with budget tyres at cheap places like rochford tyres and wheelbase, +£100 with toyos.

Just one thing to note when fitting larger alloys to the Superb - it really doesn't like it, and I mean REALLY. it pulls hard to the side of the road on an uneven surface. I dont know if there's anything you can do about this, playing with tyre pressures helped a bit, but if you get an uneven road surface or just a slight dip to the side of the road it pulls very hard and fast into it.

Is that speaking from experience mate or just from 'word of mouth'?

All cars with larger wheels will drive 'funny' on an uneven road surface? I know that my Bora did but I am pretty confident that there should be no reason for the Superb to behave differently?

With 19's on order myself I can confirm this statement shortly.

I borrowed a set of 19's from a mate who has a car audio/alloy wheel shop and found them to be too much like hard work on the roads round where I live, they would pull so suddenly to the side that you really had to be concentrating all the time, although as said playing with pressures did help (but only a little).

I decided against purchasing them off him in the end, partly due to the above but also I couldn't live (nor subject my customers) to the harsh ride that is an inevitable result. If I wasn't doing such a high mileage and the car wasn't a workhorse I would probably have lived with em as they did look awesome!!

I guess that it's all down to personal taste and what you want out of your car.

For me I use it every day, she has 95k on the clock and drives everywhere, I lowered it on coilovers as low as I could and I love it. Sure the ride is hard but that's the way I like it, I mean the car actually holds the road now, LOL!!

With the wheels upgrading to 18's let alone 19's will give you a compromise in the ride so like I said it's all down to personal taste. The intention for me is to only use the 19's during the summer and show season and then revert back to the 17's.

I will find out soon enough if your claims are true but I hope that this 'pulling' issue doesn't happen on mine?

All cars with BIG wheels, eps de 225 and above will pull to one side.this pull is even worst on uneven road surface because of the larger surface contact ,esp in hard braking. It is nothing to be alarmed. caution though that runnin 18" or bigger will need constant wheel alignment.

Also depenin on de rubber used, alot of ruber companies will say their tires works well in de wet but do u realli wan to speed in de wet?..The larger ur rubber, the more it is prone to aqua-plane.

Cheers

Hmmmmmmmm, doesn't look that low to me but I guess it must be due to the 19's and also your personal ride height preference?
