2006 Transporter T5 Alarm Help PLEEAASSEEE

Featured Replies

Hi

I've got a 2006 Transporter and the alarm is going off randomly, and often. Up to 5 times a night. It's properly annoying. With it being a work van, i daren't leave it unlocked.

I tried all the tricks first... locking it with the key in the door (supposed to deactiveate the alarm)... disabling the motion sensors and tow sensors... no help at all.

So i've plugged it into VCDS and got the following fault codes...

01134 - Alarm Horn H12

49-10 - No communications - Intermittent

When i've looked into the alarm trigger sources.. all 4 of the logged ones are

18 - Backup Horn

So i think im looking at the alarm siren which is underneath the scuttle tray or the wiring close to it? but im completely lost as to what 'backup horn' might be?

Any help greatly appreciated before the sledge hammer comes out just so i can get some sleep...

Cheers in advance

The alarm siren is also referred to as the backup horn; it has a built-in backup battery (so that it can sound even if the main battery has been disconnected) but over time that battery fails - which in a 2006 T5 is probably the issue. Officially you need a new backup horn as the battery isn't replaceable by a VW dealer, but several owners have replaced the battery themselves (by taking the backup horn apart).

Thats a brilliant help. Thanks very much.

Ive rang up Car Transplants who are sorting me an alarm horn for £20. I would just buy a new one but im selling the van in hopefully less than 2 weeks.

Just got to fight with the wiper arms then. Hopefully they arent too much trouble. Borrowing a bearing puller off my mate as i havent got a wiper puller :D

Fingers crossed that sorts it then. Should just be plug and play should it?

Thanks again

Then reset the fault codes with VCDS.
