Am planning to replace my window trim at some point this week the edge has been lifting since I purchased the car.

 

Has anyone got any tips? 

 

Looking at it it appears I may need to remove the wing mirror as it looks to sit on top of the trim.

Just finished this job. 

 

Straight forward however had to remove the door card and wing mirror.

Hi, I am about to replace a rear trim on my MK3 estate.  You say straight forward, but can you give a bit more detail?  How did you release the hook that holds the seal into the door?  Did you use a tool?
