VW ID.4 SUV EV

Featured Replies

Oh wow, that seems a good price, £37800 (+OTR) for the First Edition and it comes with all the toys I'd like. Works out cheaper than the Enyaq I configured the other day. Very interested.

I've taken the plunge and ordered one of these. First Edition in blue, expected mid-March. Early delivery as the dealer had 3 coming for stock / demo.

TLDR: Its not a Tesla.

I agree with his point about plug and charge, seems crazy this is not offered from the get-go. Mercedes offer it on Ionity and Ford seem to be offering it also. It does sound like he was driving the pre 2.1 software version, so there are updates to go to that vehicle. Version 2.1 enables OTA, so VW have the opportunity to address his concerns. Wait and see.

He didn't mention Travel Assist, which seems to be much better than Tesla's Autopilot from what I've seen. Wonder why?

End of last year, I had to sign up to Polar/Pulse instant to charge because the charger contactless wouldn't go through. Paid first £5. A few weeks ago, I topped up another £5 to use a different Polar/Pulse charger, because need balance more than £5 to start charge. But the charger would not start remotely through the app, had to use contactless. This kind of teething problems is really annoying and really deters mass adoption of EV's. Over 3 years of EV ownership and I still feel anxious when driving to a public charger, things haven't really improved.

It's just this video is too drawn out on the single issue......

He's not big on driver assist. I think Autopilot on his Tesla isn't working, he mentioned it in passing in his winter roadtrip consumption video.

Let's see how it does on their "Loveland Trials" test. I'm looking forward to that video.

Robert Llewelyn's Fully Charged review

^^^

The charging information is great, 10%-80% etc, and slowing as the battery becomes more full etc etc.

Important to many doing trips where you need to stretch range, like maybe charging and going into areas without charging available is 50% to 98% charging speed at 50kw or 100kw.

Arriving with a hot battery and plugging in and getting the car 'topped up'  and having as much range as you might need because you might not get a charger available for hours.

For many that is real world driving and charging, and going down to 10-20% and then just Rapid Charging to 80% might be OK much of the time but not all the

time.

Managed to swap the blue one with another dealer to get the best colour...

We don't need a froot / frunk...

1000 km Challenge, ID.4 comes out well. Enyaq with the optional fast charging will be similar.

And the charging curve is none too shabby either

Noticed that it said 100km Challenge, not 1000km

Bjorn Nyland has reviewed the GTX and done the 1000km challenge with it.
