Coolant fan starts when car turned off

Featured Replies

Hi. New to the forum and tried searching for answer.

So i have a Skoda Octavia Rs 07 modell that everytime "almost" i stop the car and turn of the ignition the coolant fant starts with full power. This is a problem since it drains my battery and ruins my day when it matters the most to have a car. I now dissconnect the battery everytime but hoping for tips and tricks to what i can do and look for.

thank you so much in advance.

Is this a diesel?

The VRS diesel had a poor early implementation of a DPF from quite an early year (way before the diesel engines with less power) and if you are stopping in the middle of a regen then the fans will stay on. If so I'd investigate the DPF first as this might be a sign that all is not well.

Okey. So i can start by looking into the dpf then maybe? Just hope i dont have to change the whole thing:p But thanks for the answer!

Check the oil level - is it rising? If you are getting repeated failed regens diesel can seep past the piston rings and pollute the engine oil.

Will check the oil level after work. But noticed that when i turn of my car it is also a small beeping sound coming from the engine. This sometimes go away. But if it dont go away the fan starts l run. So will check what you have told me about and hope i will get the car back to normal condition. And yes. It is a diesel.
