Sat Nav Software

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if there is a diagnostic/hidden screen on the standard fitted DX sat-nav?

I have an issue where the traffic symbols have stopped appearing on the map, the data is still coming in as I can read the messages and still get warned about trafic by 'Dorris', but I no longer get the triangles and dotted lines on screen. I'm wondering if there is a newer version of software for the unit out there.

I'm also concerned that the unit has the wrong sized wheels configured as it tends to drift quite badly when it cannot get a good satalite lock (like in a multistory car park) and since it reads wheel revolutions if the wheel size is wrong then this would happen.

The car is a 55 plate Edition 100.

Thanks

Yep, push "3" and "6" at the same time. This lets you into the diagnostic mode. You can change the wheel settings, but its all to do with numbers = wheel sizes rather than just imputting your tyre size (youll see what i mean when you look). You will need to look up the correct number for your tyre size.

BTW....the unit auto sets its self to any tyres you have fitted. This takes approximately 10minutes of drive time to do. Therefore I would guess that the problem is something else, rather than this setting, but have a play by all means.

Thanks for that, like you say nothing to adjust apart from the contrast.

Anyone got any ideas about the trafic symbols before I try and explain the problem to a dealer?

As has been mentioned the navigation adjusts the circumference setting after a few miles so even if the incorrect circumference is entered it will adjust automatically and wll not keep the input curcumference thats input in millimeters. Measure a pice of string around the wheel and compare to the setting they will be quite close.

You will get messages such as "There are traffic disruptions on route" however they will only be visible if that section is being displayed on the screen map. Saw on mime yesterday 2 no entry symbols for a section after being sat in a jam just as the transmission was sent!!!! another minute earlier and I would have been rerouted. In the 2 years I have had the unit only had slow traffic displays.

Have you got the route option set to Dynamic? the display will only show with this setting as far as I am aware.

Dont worry your unit will not need any later sofware - the units well tried and tested earlier versions of navigation s/w and maps worked fine.

Multistory car parks will be an issue as they tend to be "off route" and the navigations gyro will be the only source of detecting vehicle left right direction so wont be 100% accurate.

My unit works fine in long tunnels where satalites cannot be seen.

I get the voice message, but I don't see the symbols all the time, even when I'm in the jam she is talking about! On my route to the office down the M1 there are a couple of cut thoughs that she will never suggest :) but that are quicker than sitting in a queue beyond J12 and the 'official' re-route. It was nice to be able to see how far up the motorway the queue is and decide what to do.
