My eight month old Kodiaq with 6k miles on it is at a Skoda service center (in India) since past 10 days awaiting diagnosis. It has multiple error codes related to fuel pressure and misfires. It ran fine for about 100miles on flat roads after filling up with 95 octane petrol. Problems began to show up once I started driving uphill on a winding road to a hilltop and the engine stalled at a steep slope. Also, strong burning smell came out from engine bay and lasted few seconds but there was no smoke, smelt like a overheated metal . The error codes P0148, P0087 and P0089. There are also reports of misfire in two cylinders. The fuel level gauge in the cockpit was showing 3 bars at the time of malfunction.

 

The dealer says they are waiting for a device that is used to check fuel pressure to be sent from VW Germany. They say it is not available with Audi/VW/Skoda in India. I find it hard to believe. They haven't given me any update on the actual problem.

 

Any thoughts on what could be the problem? Any suggestions here would be much appreciated.

How much fuel was in the tank before you filled it up?

 

Could it be contaminated petrol?
