Alex lawrie skoda warranty rip off

Featured Replies

I bought my 52 skoda superb in september last year , as from earlier post i have a problem with my interior lights not going on , so last week i went to the dealer alex lawrie in liverpool there service manager said , and i quote" yes we will look at it it will cost you 60 pounds plus vat an hour just to look" , then he looked at the warranty they give me in the deal and said this warranty doesnt cover anything like this , i said but its your warranty he said no we give you a breakdown insurance policy not a warranty , well i walked out disgusted i have been to trading standards and they are still looking into it , but i feel that ALEX LAWRIE SKODA LIVERPOOL have ripped me off big time , the policy so-called warranty only has a couple of weeks left on it , and looking at other people on the forums it looks like a design fault by skoda allowing these lights not to work , but he wasn't interested at alex lawrie liverpool they have ripped me off has anyone else had problems like this and is there a solution to it .

Contact Skoda UK. See what they can do for you. I'd have thought the warrenty you got from the dealer should cover EVERYTHING?

Have a look at your warranty documents to see what is/is not covered. Third party warranties will not cover any diagnosis time, it will be up to you to pay that. Any warranty will only cover against defects in materials or workmanship, even new car warranties do not cover any perceived shortcomings in design, as well as things like tyres, wiper blades, bulbs, fuses, adjustments, etc.

I had a similar problem on my fabia.

It was a faulty door switch, which is built into the door handle, so a new handle fixed the problem.

Open and close you drivers door while in the car, holding the door handel 'open' and listen for the relay clicking.

Shame that. I used Alex Lawrie when I recently visited 'home' and the service I recieved was excellent.

Skoda U.K should sort things out for you. :)

I postesd this yesterday try this rip ofout for size and Skoda sorted first one out they don't know abou tthe second one YET....

HI new to this site but long term inmate of the Skoda breed.

I am a little concerned about the quality of some Skoda dealers, one I used to use in the Grimsby area ( not to be too specific) used non standard parts and then refused to change the engine when it expired within warantee after I had sold the car on and only agreed to change the engine after discovering they had fitted the dodgy parts and only the other week (3.5 years after that incident) the self same garage tried to sell a very good friend of mine a top of the range brand new superb and wanted to charge him extra for the sat nav that as far as I know comes as standard.

Is there some one from Skoda watching over these cowboys

They are giving the good dealers a bad name the one I use now is in Suffolk and is far more reliable yet again not to be too specific in location (Woolpit)

S555NOB affectionally know as SNOB

Any one else any major gripes on deales?

I would suggest send letters to Skoda UK and The trading standards people copying the Garage, (preferably the owner if the owner is not Skoda) this may help wake them up a bit.

The Garage not wishing to mention names is Barkers of Grimsby:thumbdwn: (strangely enough a Citreon dealer who love taking customers from their Skoda side through to the Citreon side they have been told of for this i the past but still do it.), they are such a bunch of Cowboys they should be at the OK coral, I know of a devoted Skoda owner from the area who stopped buying them because of the service she got.

I did recommend Hortons of Lincoln they are brilliant.
