1.8T Rocker cover polishing

Featured Replies

Are all the VAG 1.8T rocker covers the same?

I'd like to get one polished and i've been offered one from a mk4 Golf 1.8t.

It looks the same but I wanted to check it'd fit first!

Should be

Being sad like I am I do a bit of polishing for a hobby (Mainly bike stuff but ally is ally)

If you wanted the "spare" one polishing up and there was no need for a quick turnround I could do that for you

That was the plan ;)

I think i've already got someone here that can do it for me. Along with chroming a few other bits...but thanks for the offer, i'll bear it in mind!

I had the rocker cover of my last car polished and it looked fantastic. Must dig out some pictures...

as far as I know, the main difference is due to the type of coilpack fitted - pushfit or bolt-down, the covers are different around the spark plug positions for this reason at least.

correct,

two different types dependant on coil packs. Found this out when i was looking for a 'spare' to paint as in my avatar...;)

vRS one with push-fit coilpacks

Ah ha, ok thanks guys, saved me a bit of money there ;)

Anyone know what these cost new over the parts counter? Suggestion would be buy it, paint/polish/plate it (as desired) then fit it. Meanwhile do the same to the one you've removed and sell it!

With regards to the little pointy projections on the casting which I assume may be to support the plastic cover, are these upper surface casting only, or can be seen as indentations on the underside. I ask because I would like to see these ground off before polishing and painting.
