AirBag and Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Skoda Superb 2.5 Elegance 03.

Started the car this morning, after a very cold night. Air Bag warning light came on and I got the "Air Bag Fault" message.

On the drive to work I also noticed that the cruise control had stopped working.

Both were fine the day before.

Is this a fuse? Are they connected?

If I can avoid a trip to dealer

Cheers.

Mine is the 2.8V6 but with the same plate as yours.

Fuse 15 is for the instrument cluster, air conditioning, auto gearbox, exterior mirror adjustmentmemory and sat nav. Looks as if it could be a prime suspect.

If you don't have your manual to hand, the fuse is located in row 4 from the top, 5 along from the left.

Hope this saves you a trip to the dealer! :)

Later: Had a look and fuse 31 (15 amp) is for cruise control, reversing lights, automatic dimming mirror. Do all these work? If yes, then it could be fuse 15 (10amp) as above. Btw fuse 31 is the middle one in the top row of the group which has 3 fuses across and 7 down.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

Sureley if it is one of the two fuses you mentioned, then I would have faults with lots of other things as well.

The only two faulty things are the Cruise Control and Airbag.

Cheers.

Hi

I agree if everything else is working ok then the chances of it being a fuse related fault seems unlikely. Had a quick read through the cruise control and air bag sections of the manual but can't find common factors. Sorry!

I'm sure there will be a briskoda expert along in a minute to keep us both right :)

Is it possible that the cruise control is disabled automatically, if you have a faulty airbag?

Never thought of that! It makes sense though because if the airbag deployed and cruise was engaged, the car would keep going

IMHO airbag fault = go to dealer ASAP, some things are not worth guessing at.
