Aux belt tensioners problem 2.5 v6 52 reg

Featured Replies

my 52 reg 2.5 v6 diesel 57 thousand miles on the clock, its aux belt has come off and the tensioner has snapped off , looking on other threads it seem to be a problem with V.A.G cars , my question is is it a big problem are the parts expensive am i in trouble, i know the front needs to be taken off to gain access to the parts in question but as i said am i in trouble or isnt it that big a deal .

thanks Dave 36

Find a good VAG independent and let them sort it out. The aux. drive belt tensioner is a common problem and pattern parts are available to fix it.

Make sure, without fail that the one way clutch in the alternator pulley is checked at the same time. Many "tensioner" problems are caused by a failure here.
