Out of interest, how much (what cost?) would it likely take to write off a 04 Fabia VRS. Obviously different insurance companies differ, but roughly?

current trade-in price is about £6-6.5k depending on the mileage for 04VRS , so £4k of damage might be enough

In all honesty, if the damage is severe you may be better off with it written off IMO, hurtful as it may be. The car may possibly never be quite right and a future HPI check will show that it's been in a prang possibly making it harder to sell on.

Happened to me with a Pug 405....someone rear ended it for me and consetina'd the back end. They jigged it (even though I wanted it written off) and gave it back to me. Luckily my parents got it off me later on and are still running it to this day but it was always in the back of my mind about whether the car was 100% after all the repairs that were required.

Bizarre that they jigged it though as it was only worth a couple of grand tops. I reckon the labour would've come to about that alone.... :confused:
