How to change reverse light switch

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need to change reverse light switch in my Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI (50KW), i know that the gearbox is the 002 model.

My question is, if i need to remove the gearbox oil to change the switch, or is only need to unscrew the switch, and put the new one.

Thanks in advance

No need to drain the oil, you just need to be quick swapping the switches over. The switch does sit below the ol level and you will lose a little bit.

Dragging a thread up from the past I know, sorry.

Haynes says to use threadlock on the reverse switch. Doesn't seem much point if the threads will be coated in oil anyway?!

(Also I'm aware of issues with the reverse plug wiring becoming detached which is worth checking first).
