Window regulator-what a pain in the .....

Featured Replies

Thought I'd share my thoughts on this one with you...

window regulator went with the window jammed down so looked into trying to source one from a scrap yard...would have been £40 if i removed it myself or £60 delivered to my door. Problem with that is that it could break again any minute as they are second hand.

New from the skoda dealers varied from £70-77 but no way were they getting my money so Europarts saved the day at £61 then i blagged some discount and got it for £50.

Fitting it was a real pain, one of the clips had broken, seems daft changing the whole mechanism over but had to be done.

Door plastic trim came off easy enough, then drilled the metal inner door skin pop rivets to get to the mechanism, then fiddled around for an hour and finally secured it. Just need to replace the rivets or maybe use some bolts and get the plastic trim back on. Easy enough but if it happens to you go to Europarts.

Until next time something goes wrong eh?:)

which window was this ol?

No frost and its not like i havent been using it, my new girlfriend tried it (shes in the dog house) and the sound of cables flapping around and a wirling motor followed. All sorted now though, on with the front splitter, upper and lower strut braces and then i'll hurry up wearing all my tyres out to warrent a new set of alloys!

euro parts might be a better deal than the main dealer but I have had less luck get the door pannel off and there is no way I'm taking a drill to my car I think I will be finding a bloke that knows what he is doing and look after my tyers while Im at it. Im not over the news that JHM Butts are going off the radar.:(

quick guide ; swithes first, then the armrest comes apart, mirror switch then the torx on bottom three big screws behind armrest then pull arond bottom and lift remove cables pull big black plugs so you can dissconnect glass, with two bolts might have to line these up with motor, undo bolts round edge, loosen lock pain if you undo this. and there you have itjiggle away £55 from eurocarparts but haggle.

My Octy has had 3 go. A local independent charges £100 a time to change them.
