Ventilation temperature regulation failure

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a problem with my Octavia TDI from 1999

with air conditioning (not Climatronic). that´s getting more and more annoying the more the spring sun is shining.

A few months ago, I turned the temperature knob to maximum

heat, and now the ventilation temperature stays at maximum

even though I turn the knob to "cold". I checked the knob and

the wires leading to it, and they seem to be ok. I now suspect

that something is wrong with the heater package under the

dash board.

So... to my question....

Has any of you had this problem with your Octavia?

What was the cause of the problem?

Is it worth the while to dismantle the dash on my own (I am a fairly

good mechanic), or is it better to leave it to a professional (considering

the AC unit)?

I would appreciate any tips I can get... it´s getting warmer and

warmer here in Sweden....

Thanks in advance!

Flap motor is the obvious thing...???

Flap motor, linkage or control switch.

If you feel confident about working on a non-a/c system, go for it. There's no need to touch the a/c refrigerant circuit.
