  1. Standard suspension/No Powerflex/No bang Standard suspension/Powerflex/No bang (vibration at idle and generally makes the car less pleasing to be inside) Modified suspension/Powerflex/Bang Modified suspension/NO Powerflex/No bang The bang with the Powerflex going over ridges was very bad. I actually went back to have a look as I thought I’d missed a pothole about 4 inches deep and the wheel would be bent, but it was basically just a slight ridge with overbanding! I don’t know what to say if yours is doing it with standard suspension and no Powerflex? Tyres/tyre pressures?
  2. It is both! At idle it’s worse than a diesel! On the road having had the suspension fitted it became apparent that if you hit a ridge in the road there was a loud bang as you suggest. I had a mate put it up on his ramp and we checked everything over to make sure nothing was loose and it wasn’t. So I rang the suspension specialist who put the kit on and it was booked back in to check it over again. I then had the thought that it might be the Powerflex as it’s supposed to make the front end “stiffer”, so I removed it. Sure enough the banging stopped!
  3. Don’t fit one! The car vibrates at idle and even more when your reversing. It does stop the wheel hop under acceleration, but the times that happens compared to the constant vibration just aren’t worth it. I fitted a yellow one to mine and the thumps on the suspension got worse. I’ve fitted VWR/Racingline shocks to mine 6 months ago, with the Powerflex, they made no difference! I took the Powerflex off and the car was a lot better. Unfortunately the car is going to have to be sold soon, so the shocks and HR spring are coming off as Webuyanycar don’t want it with them on! Oh and the Scorpion rear exhaust will be off as well if anyone wants one!
  4. Been into the dealers this morning. Service manager quite obviously embarrassed as Skoda have been onto them. Here is the excuse, my car wasn’t bought from them, so when it came to them for its first service they uploaded the cars details from yet “another system” and this input has been incorrect and therefore that piece of paper with the servicing requirements, that I posted earlier, is not the correct one for my car. When I inquired as to what Skoda it was for, as no Skoda’s have those service intervals, they did not know! Supposedly my car has now been “changed” on the system to the “correct schedule”. I was going to ask for a print out but decided not to, as I’ll wait until the next service to get them to print it BEFORE they service it and then we’ll agree as to what will be done. As yet no reply from Skoda, but irrespective of all of the above I would encourage you all to agree what is to done before handing over the keys and to go armed with what you think should be getting done! They've brought it all on themselves by this “fixed price” service scam, whereby we’ll charge you the full amount but might not do stuff. Still it’s always been this way with main dealers, a main dealer FSH isn’t worth the paper it’s written on! They are all up to it, once had a Merc that went in for a brake fluid change, that didn’t happen as I’d marked the reservoir cap and it hadn’t been moved!
  5. Eventually spoke to the service manager at my dealership and after explaining to him I’d seen the official Skoda CZ service schedule that states 60000km or 4 years, which is 37282.2 miles he said to bring the car in for spark plugs! I think I just wore him down. About an hour later I have Skoda UK Technical manager ring me asking what the problem is. I explain and he says it’s 40000 miles or 2 years so the Spark plugs etc should have been done. He is confused as to why not! I explain the copy of the service schedule that I’ve seen and after a bit of head scratching he realises that what I’ve got is the Franchise service schedule that they have set up themselves! After a bit more discussion involving whether my car is being maintained in accordance with the Skoda service schedule and any warranty work he says that this matter will have to go further than his pay grade as it is becoming clear they are not! But they are I say as they are using Skoda minor and major fixed price service schedules! He goes off the phone saying he will get back to me. I’m in at the dealers Thursday! I’ll update further!
  6. Mmmh that’s the beauty of the scam! Have you read the link, it’s one of many articles, who did the research and published the results.......Standard Oil, GM and Du Pont! it does exactly as you say as regards performance and its cheap, but the other alternatives that we now see being used were available back then, it’s just they were quashed by the 3 companies all of which had Congressmen/Senators on their boards with the subsequent increase in share value!
  7. Oh and as regards the service interval stuff, Skoda UK are currently tying themselves in knots as regards the service schedule and miles to KM conversions, going against Skoda CZ service schedules and a potential Autoexpress article on service histories being invalid. Not “dieselgate” but “servicegate”!
  8. The reason that oil change intervals have increased is not only due to the improvement in oil technology but also in the removal of lead from petrol. The lead breaks down the properties of the oil as well as brain cells! Basically it was all a scam to have lead in petrol by these three big players in the US. Standard Oil, General Motors and the DuPont Corporation. Every gallon of fuel ever sold they got a payment from it having tetraethyl in it. Why did we use leaded petrol for so long? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40593353
  9. Just had my Petrol, manual, 2017 VRS in for its second variable service at 37600. First service was a “minor” and this one was a “major”. I asked for clarification on what work was to be carried out, as from the Skoda Uk website, as we know, it states “spark plugs, fuel/air filter as necessary”. Service manger went onto “the computer” to say it doesn’t need any of those but we’ll still be charging you the major service and a brake fluid change. I asked him to print out the screen he’s working from as regards what needs changing on my car when. Here it is attached. Since studying it, it becomes apparent that it is a nonsense. My car on variable will next tell me it needs a service at approx 55000 miles, yet at 50000 miles it should have spark plugs etc. If I’d had it on fixed 10000 miles, then I would take it to the dealer and they should say they’ll do nothing until 12500! The next service is due at 25000, which even basic maths tells me is not divisible by 10! So when would it be serviced. As regards my current mileage 37600, I paid for a major, had none of the parts changed, the car thinks it can go to 55000, but should go to the garage at 50000 to have spark plugs and filters that I’ll have to pay for even though I didn’t get them at 37600! Completely and utterly senseless! Just waiting for a call from the service manager and I’ve spoken to Skoda Uk and waiting a call back from them!
  10. To make it really easy tie a piece of cotton to the cable and that comes through even easier! Thread creep, if you'll excuse the pun!
  11. Try getting a hoover to suck it out. Seal the hoover tool over the hole with some tape and switch it on. You’ll be surprised what it can suck out. I use this technique to route internal cabling on my pushbike!
  12. All you need to know here. My 13 plate vRS was the donor car for Scorpion.
  13. Poundshop plastic container having measured under the seat. Velcro tape and away you go!
